Gameplay tips and progression |
Basically a Faith-Based melee damage build, as opposed to the DEX/FAITH spread with the paladin. I recommend using a 2-handed weapon like Large Sword of Moonlight or Istarelle, or a Blessed weapon such as the Blessed Mirdan Hammer. Personally I like the sword for the huge Faith bonuses it gets as well as being a great Magic shield. I like Total Protection, as it does keep you from being 1-shotted constantly in most boss fights - it's all up to preference. As far as your stats go it's just going to depend on how far you plan to level up. If you're not going past 100 then you'll need to think more carefully, let's assume that. First off, just get your faith up to the 24 mark or so where you need to use the Sword. After that, I'd work a little on some Endurance - 10 points worth of extra Stamina can go a long way. Since you won't save Freke till around 30+ or so unless you have help, don't worry too much about your Will till then, but just get it up to 14 for the 2 slots and stop. After these are done you have your choice the rest of the way up: more Vitality if you feel you need the health, more Endurance if you want a bit more stamina, or just pump into Faith to power up all your damage. Magic may be a little redundant in a heavy FAITH investment build. For instance, a player cannot simultaneously buff themselves with One Time Revival/Total Protection/Slow Recovery. Blessed weapons/LSoM/Istarelle also cannot be buffed, as they already are enchanted, making Light/Cursed Weapon redundant. Add more strength as necessary if wielding blessed large weapons. Blessed +5, Regenerator's Ring, Adjudicator's Shield +5 will completely ignore most plague/poison/bleed combos that players dish out, and greatly mitigates against damage with its 18hp/second regeneration. High VIT, respectable magic defense from high FAITH, and One Time Revival will allow you to easily survive mages. Can prevent getting one shotted against most NG+ enemies. Excellent in PVP, but may have a tough time with some game enemies as it is a build without respectable range capabilities, but quicker to be dominant in melee before the hybrid build associated with the Paladin. |
Retribution Build
How do you get the sword of moonlight, adjudicator's shield and istarelle all to +5?
New game+++?
Wich one would you focus on first?
For the mirdan hammer won't you need more dex?
Why 22 str for this setup?
What armor would you suggest?
Thanks!
Multiple playthroughs to get 15 colourless demon's souls, or use the trick to farm them by invading and killing the primeval demon just as you invade someone's game so it respawns.
Which one you focus on first is personal preferance, I'd suggest the Adjudicator's or LSoM first, as the Istarelle isn't as good, to be frank.
Armorwise, Binded for female and Ancient set for Male.
I'll add more here in a sec, got to get dinner.

Hello, I'm really new to the game and this is my first time playing through. I decided to look online to find a build to work on so I can have a decent PvP character. I've been playing for a couple days now trying to build my character around your guide but I have a few questions.
1. I chose a female temple knight as my character, but she only had 6 magic, so I leveled it up to 10 so I could trade with Sage Freke. Was this a mistake?
2. I'm pretty much a noob, so I don't understand the stats too well at all. Why exactly should I use the Adjudicator's shield and Binded Armor?
3. What soul level is best for PvP?
Thanks. I'll give you feedback when I finish the build. Demons Souls so far is an awesome game. :D
Not a mistake.
Adjudicator's Shield has passive HP regeneration when it's brought out. This regeneration is also active if you wield a weapon with both hands and have it holstered.
The Binded Armor is the best "light" armour, i.e. armour that does not impose penalty to stamina regeneration.
The popular Soul Level is 120.
This is my main characters build and maxed my character out at lvl 100. I use light armor mixed with heavy armor, I am light enough to roll fast. My 2 main weapons are, Blessed Mirdan Hammer +5, and the other is Blessed Great Axe +5 Which is my main PVP weapon. Its roll + R1 attack an amazing AoE move which is powerful and hard to get away from. Also makes people fear coming in close. Then the Mirdan hammer is the range weapon to keep them at bay, a truly deadly combo.
But fear magic, this build has crazy hp reg when A shield is maxed out, but magic can kill you in 2 blows. Have back up shield for magic, the Dark silver shield + 5 does very well.
As for magic and miracles. 2nd chance, anti-magic field, and warding is all you will need. Anti magic will save you against magic users. Also for melee users, use 2nd chance, but if it falls off then cast warding, its fast casting. Use the Beast talisman because it can cast both magic and miracles.
Here is my equip, Assassin's mask, black gloves, black shoes, and dark silver chest plate. Rings are, ring of reg, and then the other is just whatever it calls for. So mess around with your 2nd ring. But max out Adjudicator's Shield +5, always keep it on your back, no use for it. If you need to use a shield, pull out the dark silver shield.
Left hand 1: Talisman of beast (for get the name)
Left hand 2: Adjudicator's Shield +5
Right hand 1: Blessed Mirdan Hammer +5,
Right hand 2: Blessed mirdan Hammer +5
I am still light enough to roll fast too. Good luck, hope this helps
