Gameplay tips and progression |
Stats Explained: Vitality: 50 - Get this to 40, then make sure your other stats are good before proceeding to 50. You want vitality comfortable, but not too high until you are happy with the rest of your stats and don't want to be deleveled. Intelligence: 15 - This is needed to cast Second chance unless you wear the silver coronet. Endurance: 40 - Allows a 2-handed 1-2-3 combo from the axe (which should rarely be used in pvp) or a 1-2 combo with rolling and running. It is also quite necessary to increase endurance pretty high due to the large weight of the Dozer Axe (22.0). Strength: 30 - Feel free to drop this to 20 and two-hand the axe, but 30 is optimal as it will allow you to riposte with the axe and is also handy for switching to crushing weapons. Dexterity: 8 - Sticking to this build, you want as low dexterity as possible to allow more freedom with your Soul Levels. Choosing a Priest class sets all of your levels perfect for the build, especially by having the lowest dexterity. Magic: 35 - Like Vitality, keep this one at about 30 until you are comfortable raising it, but I wouldn't advise going past 35. The Dozer Axe has a base damage of 340, so it's not incredibly powerful alone. Casting light weapon on it with an Insanity Catalyst can put your Attack Rating up to between 500 and 600. Faith: 16 - Just enough for Second Chance, no more is necessary. Luck: 8 - Unfortunately this is the base level for priests, but the other base stat allocations are worth the trade-off. Summary of Build: First off, let me say this build is described "The most fearsome axe for the most skilled warriors." because it looks very intimidating (especially with light weapon!) but has a difficult move-set to hit players with, just like the Great Axe. The difference between this and a Cursed Great Axe is that a Light Dozer Axe (or "Lozer" for short) only does about 2/3 as much damage. This makes the build more fun than effective, but excels at training players in using the Great Axe, as more skill is necessary to achieve victory. Game Progression: 1. Get the Crescent Falchion +1 in 4-1. Pros and Cons: Pros: This build trains players to use the Great Axe with exceptional skill. Cons: Fairly reliant on Light Weapon. |
Lozer SL 122
I was considering this, thanx for the heads up.
this build looks like it might turn the dozer axe to a pvp competitive weapon so +1 for that.
I especially like how you use light weapon to make up for the lack of stat scaling this weapon has.
With that said, one could aslo add 3 SL's to intelligence for cursed weapon and use the rest of your magic for vitality for a north regalia sort of build.
With those stats, you'll prolly do more damage with the MC because it already has magic damage built into it. When you split damage between two stats, even though you may have the same attack rating with one weapon that is purely physical and one that is half phys-half mag, you will do more damage with the pure physical. Build on the magic damage from the MC and you make this build more effective, i can almost guarantee it ^_^ Do not let attack rating deceive you ;) lower STR to 26, lower mag to 30, and raise fth to 24. SL 121 :D You are now far more effective against warding and more competitive in PvP with the same weapon moveset and much greater reach with your attacks.
why insanity catalyst for LW? ICAT doesnt increase its damage, you need to get cursed weapon and a wooden catalyst or talisman of beasts. and the dozer axe isnt a good pvp weapon. crushing great axe +5 with 30 str far exceeds the dozers 340 damage along with CW instead of Lw
Love the idea of using Dozer axe… I think I've seen 1-2 players with it… but I may have been high… (arthritis…)… +1 originality & devastating looks; I'd like to see more than CW GA, estocs and katanas…. but no.
Some small adjustments I'd make were I to take on this build (not for everyone)
1) I would drop str by 10 to 20, due to the fact that:
2)I would reduce Magic to 30, since the damage difference between 30-35 is miniscule.
"Some quick numbers: (using iCat for LW)
20 magic ==> 148 SA ==> 192 damage
30 magic ==> 187 SA ==> 243 damage
35 magic ==> 192 SA ==> 250 damage
50 magic ==> ~207 SA ==> 269 damage
3) With the additional 15 spare points there are a couple options:
or
…I really like the look of this and since my defiler build rocks LW @ 22str and 30mag I might go forge myself a Dozer and see how that variation of the Lozer turns out!
Yes the idea of using a weapon that is not seen often is good, but there is a reason its not used, with 30 str, the crushing great axe will outdamage the Dozer and will weight half. That is why its not used at all.
