Gameplay tips and progression |
First of all, my english isn't too good. The thing to note about this build is damage, with 30 mag you should be getting 243-244 added damage points, this bonus can be heavily exploded specially on "weaker" weapons like the Knight Sword or the Guillotine Axe, their standard damage with this build should be around 300, if you curse them you'll get 150 extra damage, but when lighted you get a whopping 244. However, the same calculation does not apply to stronger weapons like the Dragon Bone Smasher or the Great Axe, they will still be incredibly powerful though, and you'll get some heavy magic damage added, which isn't bad at all if you fight against Warding or mages. The Claymore will also be greatly overpowered if you light it. The lighted Knight Sword almost becomes a Blueblood Sword, so does the Guillotine Axe. Note that you cannot use the infamous Mirdan Hammer with this build due to having only 10 dexterity. This can be fixed however by adding the corresponding points or simply starting as a Temple Knight. If you don't mind going a bit higher then you could just get 15 intelligence, 50 strength and 12 dexterity, reaching SL130 and still remain in PvP range. As for story gameplay, I'd recommend rising intelligence to 14 ASAP then drop all your points in magic until you reach 30. I´ve learnt that magicians do well in low level PvE. Of course, get Soul Ray, Soul Arrow and Flame Toss (useful for the boss in the Valley of Defilement). Also, you should try getting the Meat Cleaver early on, it's easy to make and will help a lot. |
Art's LW Strength Dude (SL125)
moon weapons will probably benefit slightly from a lower SL because of their C-rating from MAG. Also, while the DBS has high base damage, it is physical, so you probably won't get as much out of it with light weapon as from a MAG-based weapon like the MC. Just a recommendation :)
for your recommendation, yes you are right, in lower sl moon weapons would be more efficient! btw I checked damage for most weapons before posting the build and if I remember correctly, the dbs gets exactly a bonus magic damage of 258 points, giving you 784 total damage while 2h (and 40str), a cursed dbs will of course be more powerful but I think 784 is really good (a backstab is still enough to crack second chance most of the time even if the opponent has 100% health). I really like the meat cleaver and the crushing great axe, and as I mentioned above, the crushing axe (which have 690 dmg) is a bit more powerful than the MC (almost 40 points difference), I still prefer the meat cleaver for it's range and I also find it a bit more quicker, but maybe it's just me. it should be noticed that with this stats not all crushing weapons will be stronger when cursed than their light counterpart, the dbs is an exception due to it's incredible physical damage though, this should be taken into consideration, then again, thnx for your recommendation and plz feel free to rate! =)
ah, but attack rating is misleading. You actually do more damage with a weapon that is very strongly one damage type than split between two, which is what makes the BBS so deadly. It is already something like 145 magic damage with 30 luck or so, but when LW is added, the damage bonus from it is not affected very much, meaning you can add most of that damage directly to your output rather than have it bogged down like it would be normally. The same goes with the MC. If you can find someone who is willing, ask them to equip their armor in such a way as to make mag-def and phys-def equal, then compare your damage output with a LW crushing GA and LW meat cleaver. You may be surprised to find that they are quite different from what their attack rating suggests. And i agree, CW is most beneficial on weapons with high physical base damage. With 40 MAG, you only net about 70 more mag-damage points on a moon weapon. I almost forgot, if you like LW on the MC, lower STR a little and add that to FTH for more magic punch ^_^ my mage has a 700-something attack rating with 18 STR, 16 DEX, 40 mag, and 40 fth and hits frickin hard! Just for your consideration ;)
I changed the stats of the build. Mostly Str and Mag.
Nice, this is well done. Something you should be wary of: splitting damage between physical and magical tends to reduce your damage quite a bit when compared to your AR. A trend I've noticed with the meat cleaver is that it scales quite nicely with faith and actually doesn't deal very heavy magical damage from LW without it. If you want to focus on the meat cleaver with LW over all of your other weapons, check out my build on page 2 of the builds section :) I experimented with it today and have some incredible findings ^_^
Yeahh you are right about splitted damage, and I checked your Meat Cleaver build, +1 from me man, I'm trying to think of a way to rise strength to 26 though, so I can wield Meat Cleaver one handed, I like riposte so it should come in handy. And as for my build, I wouldn't rely too much on big weapons, I think this build is supposed to go the other way around: instead of a Guillotine Axe backing up a Meat Cleaver or Dragon Bone Smasher, use mainly the Guillotine Axe and use the MC or the DBS as backup. Smaller weapons get the biggest benefits from this build. Of course, Guillotine Axe is y¡just an example, it also applies to Knight Sword, Claymore, the infamous Mirdan Hammer and even Knuckles (it's worth a try the damn things are fun haha)
Well pretty much the build i posted months ago if not identical, but taking points from vit and pumping strentgh,a viable option but risky. The only thing I will say is this, light weapon is not meant for Gaxe and DBS. NO and flat no. Use cursed weapon instead because it gives a lot more damage without even considering split damage as Astrichthyes mentioned to you and to me too in my build, hehe. Yes it is a big deal going through 2 defenses so you want weapons that benefit from the static LW damage addition, meaning fast weapons. A guillotine axe will get the same extra damage from LW as the DBS but you can swing it 3 time of the swing from a DBS. Simply said, big weapons benefit MORE from cursed weapon. When i say more i mean around 20% to 40% more damage not even considering the amount of points you get to keep without speding on magic. I see that you recommend guilly and claymore like i did, but I would totally take out GAxe and DBS.
As for meatcleaver, it will be weaker than a build made for it so its plain silly also considering how heavy it is.As for knight sword, no sense in using it since it will be severely overpowered by BBS like 50% at the least. Use guilly, slightly stronger AR but with the added spot damage from most attacks it becomes deadly, specially with masters ring. Takes skill though, i wont lie. And just so you know, Purple flame shield is a piece of garbage. Use steel shield instead, same deal for a better weight and reqs. No arguing there i tell you. Use steel or knights or dark silver and adju for regen.
As for armors, its usually more of a taste thing really but for strength with weapons being so heavy I recommend being female for the binded set´s low weight and decent defense.
So good stuff but consider what i said and check my build, though it looks like you took a long look already.

Cheers for not going for the regular curse one.
