Gameplay tips and progression |
Homing Soul Arrow is slow and easy to dodge, and overall not very reliable. However it has a big strategic side too it, it forces a dodge, it locates, its powerfull if they mess up, and best of all it shoots by itself, take advantage of these facts. Push Lock ignite can prove fatal very quickly if u can start it. Use Storm Ruler to knock down opponents and cast HSA to make it harder too dodge, or ignite/fireball/firestorm to make it nearly impossible to dodge. Many people like Monks Head Collar and Kriss Blade, however I see it as blinding, too easy to spot, and screams the fact that your a mage. Also as a close range mage you are at a disadvantage against other mages, so you don't want too open your magic defense. I would like too hear all comments regarding flaws and improvements enjoy :) |
Mahoutsukai
-you only need 13 DEX for an uchi
-dual uchi's are frowned upon by a large portion of the Demon's Souls community if they are intended for pushlock. Although i've thought about pushlock-ignite, i personally think it is both cheap and impractical to even attempt. Given that, your push may actually push them out of the way of your spell if done incorrectly (you'd have to be stepping on their toes for it to work)
-your vitality is VERY low, far too low for melee to even cross your mind.
-your armor choices (aside from the hood) have stamina penalties
-your END is way too low to seriously consider melee. 30 is probably the minimum for feasible damage output.
-using storm ruler to knock your opponent down and cast spells before they get up shows a lack of skill. If you're a skilled mage, it should be unnecessary.
You would be far outmatched versus: any LW build, a spellsword, a faith build in moderately skilled hands, and a pure mage that will hit you much harder than you can hit them. Sorry, -1
I would apreciate it if comments were actually productive as opposed to just being said for the sake of ranting…
The point of the 16 dex is so that people can weild the lava bow which any magic character with any sense would want.
The duel katanas being frowned upon i only have that to show that this build can be used in this way. however with this build u will rarely use your left hand katana for anything other then a fast horizonal strike to finish it.
As for the vitality being too low, i see quite the contrary i don't need much health to kill someone because i rarely get hit, i do fine with 20, the only reason for the stamina that high is to survive lag backstabs and firestorm
As for the endurence being too low and the equipement impeding stamina, I doubt that as they are considered light armor and if they do then i didn't notice. Regardless i have no need for a large amount of endurence because in the time that u r stunned from ignite i would have regained most of it.
As for the storm ruler, in no way does it show lack of skill it is nothing more then a tool use it or don't, its cooler more fun and more effective. I could say the same about a shield infact a shield is probably cheaper, however it is nothing more then a tool to make the user more effective.
I rarely lose fights, and almost none of my defeates have been to any of the builds u have mentiond, And as an ultimate counter to everything u have said, the point of looking up builds is to gain suggestions not to make a carbon copy, and the point of posting builds is to improve and see what people thing, not put up with annoying rants that don't put up any good

sry for the double forgot to hit reply the first time :)
At what point at enjoying playing a game I paid for should I care what people I've never met frown upon. If that's the case then. Hey everyone I think cursed weapon is cheap really so if you ure a cracked ToB scraping spear is cheap every cloud is cheap light weapon is cheap every form of cloaking is cheap and hypermode is cheap so everyone stop doing these because I frown on them I hope this sounds as stupid to everyone as it does to me. Play your game do what you enjoy
A lot of people say life has it's bumps in the road.
Well I have not had any. As long as I'm still breathing I call this ISHT smooth sailing.
Tears are for the strong. Alot of us weak men cant cry anymore.
I agree with astrichthyes to an extent…vit too low…end too low
but the push lock combo and storm ruler I don't think badly of, push lock is no worse than stun lock and actualy takes a bit of skill to pull off, and storm ruler ….yeah followed by fire storm is a bit dirty but all is fare in ds, and you can just spam role out of knock down and avoid most projectiles
Peace and love to all though, not trying to start a back lash
Ray,
Love it! Love every bit of this build
'The reality is these so called Pro's use pushlock any chance they get.
It's ironic. Today, I was thinking of a past uchi puch match some guy did to me.
Besides switching weapons right away and rolling to the "sides" or back to hopefully avoid a nice daggar/uchi or dual uchi's pushlock, why not throw in ignite, firestorm even if a weak one for non mags' will surely stop the push before it happens if timing is right.
This is where timing, and skill come to play.
I'm sick of being a fair host, losing battles to those who are not skilled, and only have grown accustomed to the whole "pushlock" mentality.
These same individuals I am assuming for the most part are the ones who complain about getting jumped.
I play the good guy-never ever have I jumped, hence for invaders who "jump" by trying to come in hiding, going past you, using the envioronmental enemies to kill you, is considered the hypocrisy of the DS community.
Whether a game or not, the fun is surely being taking out of the game.
SInce when have people felt the need to complain aobut any kind of pushlock when the dual uchi's unfortunately have been a constant and dispicable act of these non assigned rules of conduct, yet unsportsmanlike in every aspect.
This build is used as an offensive and defensive way of shutting down the ones wh simply thrive on pushlock for a win, and a good build against skilled dual uchi's who take too much advantage of the pushlock.
Good build my man!
Ray these people who consider themselves top of the crop athletes of DS:) for the most part engage in dirty tricks when they do not know the host or feel no one sees the forums.
There are those I must say who are very respectful, admirable, skilled who are on the forums or not ,that I do like playing against. These are the ones who I respect because it shows their character in and out of the game.
This game has been a harsh reality of immaturity of those youngsters(uchummm majority of them purely immature 16-19) but also those who will do anything to take the fun out fo the game by using shaddy tactics when in the front of their so called peers complaining about every single weapon that should never be considered unfair(the newest I believe is this whole estoc thing)
Why? Because someone said so? Because since it is a fairly new weapon used, now losing to it means it's a noob weapon.
My trust in this game to all those who have been plahying this for awhile is going down. I speak amongst many and go against many.
Game-I give it before Oct before they call it quits. Thanks to the special few including you know who(I like the color…) to blame.
