Gameplay tips and progression |
First a backstory- The Dragoon descended from the sky and landed amongst the snow covered mountains. He knew not where he came from but only where he had to go. The voice in his head pushed him ever onwards. "Find the boy," it whispered never ending to him. "Find him and bring him to me." The Dragoon had no idea why the voice wanted the boy, but he was sent to complete the mission; not question it. He set forth from the snow capped mountains and towards the village in the valley below. This is his story… Haha, wasn't that awesome? I want to become a writer one day, so that is just a sneak peak at what I can do. Back to business. Begin the game by choosing a Soldier. They have pretty decent stats and they start off with a Spear. Go through 1-1 however you please. Once you beat Phalanax, go to the bridge and wait for the Red Dragon to fire nuke it. You must have mobility for this part!!! Run to the first item on the bridge, which is a Winged Spear, and run back to safety. The soldier has enough Health to survive a hit but who wants to get blasted by fire??? Return to the nexus, up your stats, and make your way to whatever level you want. Eventually, you will have to farm Spear Black-Eyed Knight's for a Winged Spear, Skeleton's for Bladestones, and Shaman's for Faintstones. Try and get all the items that you need in the first playthrough and you will be golden. I have started using Spear's and they have an awesome move set. Note: The Scraping Spear should only be used against Stealth player's, and people who hide behind their shield's. That will teach them to hide from you!!! Anyway…I hope you enjoy this build. |
Holy Dragoon
but you can't get a blessed Winged Spear. If you want magic damage, go for a Moon Winged Spear. Blessed Halberd or Mirdan Hammer is your bet for blessed long weapons that Dragoons use.
If you're gonna be a "Dragoon", Istarelle is your weapon of choice, which is right. However, I would recommend taking 2 points from vit and placing a point in dex and faith. 36 Faith means 4 miracle slots (second chance and god's wrath, a fitting miracle for the theme presented here). As for armor, the Dark silver set would be of better use than the mirdan because it weighs less, looks better, and adds to your magic defense. Your chosen helm could be anything, but if you want to keep the theme of a dragoon, the silver coronet would be a proper decoration. In addition, the DSS is still your best bet for a shield and still fits with your theme. Your beginning class should be a temple knight because it does not waste stats in magic or luck, which saves you a few stat points to use in dex. Again, the scraping spear bad! It shouldn't be used on stealth builds, it should be used on jumpers. If you have the right strategy, stealth builds aren't a bother, so there's no need to break their gear. I'm sure they'd bring plenty of gear as well and wouldn't get hit if they were a decent player.
I've been playing this build for a while now. I LOVE IT! its so beastly strong! the only learning curve on this build was getting used to using spears. I started with a Temple Knight for the starting faith and halberd. The sharp winged spear has gotten me through most of the game, but I've come to love my Blessed Mirdan Hammer now with Istarelle on the side. I prefer to use the Abjunctor's Shield for the extra regen, but I carry it on my back so i can pull more powerful attacks. With the high dex, I also use a Sticky Compound Long Bow +4 (soon to be +5) for those needed bow times. I'm still working on the armor, but the old ragged has worked so far till i get more endurance and Dark Silver set.
On another note, the way I build my character was I got my Int and Str to 15 asap (might as well finish that off quickly). Then I worked my Dex till 20. Then Vit and Endurance till 20. Then Faith to 16 (for the 2nd slot for Evacuate). Then pushed my Dex all the way to 35. That took care of my damage with my Sharp Winged Spear +3 and Sticky Comp Long Bow +3. Then got my Faith a bit past 20, now worked Vit to 30 and working Endurance to 30. I'm only lvl 78 atm, but this method seems to be working well.
ok, finally got my stuff perfected.

since my Slvl is lower compared to yours (while at the same stats), I guess I'll put the last 5 points into Vitality to make an even Slvl 120
