R1 - Meat Cleaver Male Armor Set :(Whatever can keep you unburdened) Ring - Cling Ring (Gotta have lots of Hp in PvP!) If not in Soul Form, you can go with many different options as far as your free ring slot is concerned. I personaly prefer something like Eternal Warriors ring so that you can keep the pressure up on your opponent. But, you can also take a more defensive route and use the Ring of Magical Dullness for more MagDef, since most damage done in PvP will be magical, unless you come across a strength build. The choice really is up to you. I rarely use this build outside of Soul Form. |

Gameplay tips and progression |
The build is designed for PvP. You have just enough stamina to do a full 3 Sweep Combo 2H'd, or two dodge roll pounds. However, when using the MC, you should always try to contain yourself as much as possible, for whenever you attack you are also leaving yourself wide open. Be conservative, yet persistent, in your offense. Stay close to the enemy unless you need to recast Light Weapon. If you do need to recast LW, use the Dark Silver shield to block and then use the 1H knockback attack. This should buy you enough time to recast. If you are knocked out of Second Chance, you can use the same strategy to recast it too. The ground pound is your greatest weapon, but it's so predictable these days. You really have to predict your opponents next move to really land it. Never use it on your first roll, they'll always dodge as soon as you dodge. Instead, use it on your second or third roll, and try not locking on so that if they dodge away you can point towards them and perhaps hit them with the small AOE it has. The 3 sweep 2H'd combo has invincibility frames. If you can catch them with swing one or two and they are not too far away from you, finish it out for a nice 700-900 hit combo. If you can manage to land Poison cloud, great. It keeps the pressure on them to heal, and if you know they're gonna heal, that means there will be a opening in which you can backstab. Backstabs with this build can easily do 800+ damage if LW is in effect. |
Ultimate Meat Cleaver
As far as rings are concerned I would suggest in body form you use Eternal Warrior's Ring & in Soul form you use Cling & Foe's/Friend's Rings. It is important to have Eternal Warrior's Ring, particularly for this build with very low endurance so that you can maintain an offense. Friend/Foe's ring will greatly enhance your damage while in soulform & dull rat's (though would be viable in body form) might easily get skipped over by a heavy hitter or a combo, so it's better to have the constant boost of clings& foe/friend's.
Additionally if you're not dead set on using poison cloud I wouldn't suggest using it, the extra spell slot provides decent variety and will allow you to use soulray, firespray, ac/pc, but you could be using those 4 points in faith or dex for extra damage or endurance for a larger stamina pool (less negative regeneration time). I know you've addressed the importance of being cautious and landing your hits but a whiff can cost you an opportunity and with such low stamina it would be difficult to hurt evasive/cautious players. Especially if you've run negative in your stamina you'll be left open for attack without stamina to roll away while it recharges from going negative.
4 more points in dex or faith would be a waste. after DEX hits 30 the damage bonus is 1 or 2 points per level. The FAITH bonus is only 1 or 2 points a level, but after you hit level 20 faith the bonus increases to 3 points per level. So, investing in faith isn't really worth it unless you go past 20. With Light Weapon, you get a far more bonus to magic attack than you ever could with a faith of 30. Also, as far as DEX is concerned, you get a bonus of 4 between 20 to 30. Same with strength. Since you will be 2H the cleaver when on the offence, that 20 strength value becomes 30 when the MC is in two hands.
Poison Cloud is just a suggestion. I do not use it. In fact, if I could, I would start over and put those poitns in Endurance. However, you need 18 magic to have enough MP to cast Light Weapon with the Insanity Catalyst equipped so I left it alone. The IC cuts your Mp down when equipped, but with the IC you get much more LW damage.
True, heavy hitters will cut through Dull Rats. The Dull Rats is to save you from the insane combo damage of stuff like the Knight Sword, Blueblood Sword, Mirdan Hammer, and Dual Uchi. It's saved me from those combos many times.
In Body Form, the choice really is yours. I prefer the DulL Rat though because it really helps when you've gotten caught in those insane combos. Of course, a enchanted great axe or cursed great axe will cut through it, but if you're careful enough and can call their ground punds, you wil be okay.
I'd still suggest reducing it & throwing those points into Endurance or dex, and you only need 15int to cast LW /w iCat not 18. Magic stat doesn't alter your mana pool.
I'm sorry, your build description is incorrect. This is not "the Ultimate Meat Cleaver build" and definitely does not reach the full potential of the weapon. The only way you can say that is if you had 30 in all 4 stat scalings, which would give you an additional 38 AR. The reason i know this? Because i already designed the MC build that has it months ago. The MC is simply not designed for SL 120 pvp because the stat scaling is spread too thinly. 29 endurance is really bad because you don't have any wiggle room. You will rarely have enough stamina to finish the full 3-hit combo, which is deadly because it happens so frequently with the MC, and you aren't gonna be able to run from agressive opponents. The concept is decent and i commend you for trying to come up with a low SL version, but I must give it a -1 because it is not what you promise it to be and you will constantly find yourself gasping for a few points of stamina.
