I might be wrong about this, but i'm pretty sure a 50mag cres. estoc can ohko 50vit phantoms on backstabs, that's why you'll see a lot of mages poking around. This might only be for counter-hit backstabs or I could be totally wrong

While what you're saying makes sense, the other aspect to this build is with 50 magic, using crazy tornado hat, Kris blade and insanity, the fireball does over 550 damage against phantom, firstorm over 1000, ignite around 900!
This build is no joke if used properly.
I tried to give enough endurance to make it where the estoc comes in handy. Has 338ish which is good for backstabbin gas yo umentioned. However, kris blade has relatively decent push into spell combos and pure mag backstabs.
Another option in fiddling around with this build the past few days is the crescent kilij. 378ish damage.
Moose, you have an open mind, try this build.
I also made a DBS, faith build that has good counter defense against fire magics'(DBS increases fire defense:), while having 50 faith allows you to use LSOM, or blessed Knights in combo with the DBS.
I've made a 125 build that has 38 endurance,(wear black leather armor with one or two pieces using Old Doran's while still being able to roll quickly) ,30 strength for DBS buff with SWS or BTurp, and blessed Knight's or LSOM as backup with 50 faith.
