  • any Armor that does not affect Stamina Reg. rate. (try leather or black leather in the early stages of character development)

Weapons RH:
*RH1- Any (based off your damage stat.) custom weapon (+5)
*RH2- weapon with high critical (back stab, riposte) damage, Bow for PvE
Equipment LH:
*LH1- DSS +5 (if you prefer dual wielding, obviously this is your off-hand weapon slot)
*LH2- TotB
Soul Form
*Cling Ring, Friend Ring
Body Form
*Eternal Warrior's ring, Clever Rat's Ring

Recommended spells/miracles

Suggestions for Melee focused character:
*Second Chance
*Poison / Acid cloud
*Warding (try "protection" spell if you only have 1 mag. slot to spare)
*Either L Weapon or C Weapon depending on your damage stat (18 int. req. for CW)

Gameplay tips and progression

Demons Souls is all about properly distributing your stats and upgrading your character's equipment to suit your fighting style. With this as a GENERAL guide, you should find it easier to distribute your Stat points without wasting hours upon hours on failed builds.
I started and scrapped 3 characters before realizing that there is just not very much room for error when distributing stats on a melee focused build.

*Vitality- 40 (Mininum level for a melee build. You want a fair amount of HP to go toe-to-toe with similar melee builds)
*Int- 15-18 (15 is the minimum for casting second chance and LW while CW requires 18)
Some prefer 18 regardless for the extra spell slot
*End- 40 (Stamina Cap: Do NOT increase past this level)
*Str- usually 18-20 on most melee builds (the only real reason to raise any higher is if Strength were your damage modifying Stat)
*Dex- 12 (minimum for using Compound Long Bow… only reason to raise, again, is weapon requirements or if you choose Dex. for your damage modifier)
*Mag- 10 is required to learn spells from Sage Freke ( if ALL you want on a character is CW and SC there is NO need to increase this stat at all)
*Faith- 16 (minimum for SC)

Any Remaining SL's between these stats and SL 120-124 should be put into Vit and or your Damage Stat (Be it Strength, Dexterity, Magic, or Faith)

Upgrade stones are VERY precious, use them WISELY
