Gameplay tips and progression |
3 Variations of a katana user in the lower lvl region. Now why do i invade low level? Because the 3 vs 1 fights are so fun, especially when the host runs back for blues. First of all. Why makoto? Why not moon uchi? It does more damage… Backup weapon: Moon uchi. Makoto does more damage (+/- 100 extra, depending on players magic defence), but it's pure physical. So warding reduces it's damage for the full 75%. Here's where a moon uchi comes in handy. Warding doesn't work against magic (or fire), so the damage is way higer than a Makoto when someone uses warding. How to start: What you want is to learn magic without magic 10. So upgrade only vitality to the max (50, 40 or 30) and magic to 10. Finish the entire game like this (except the final boss), learn every magic and miracle, then delevel magic back to 6 by invading, then use white stone to exit. (Note: vitality never delevels, that's why you can upgrade it) Well, almost everybody knows about the Thomas dupe glitch, so i recommend using that glitch for a fast character build. Go to 4-1, get the uchi and adjudicator's shield, finish 4-1 and return to the nexus. World 4 should be pure white. Get makoto in 4-2, exit and go to 2-3. The rest shouldn't be a problem anymore with dragon halberd +5 and adjudicator's shield +5 and vitality at least 30. Finish the remaining levels. Get every weapon/armor/consumeble/ring. Learn every magic/miracle. Delevel magic back to 6 and upgrade the stats how you want. Why 3 variations? Well. The lvl 85 is in my opinion the best character cons: The problem is, you can end up with 2 very good blues with lvl 120. You're never gonna win that. Unless they fight you 1 at a time. lvl 65: lvl 75: And what's also good about it, it's a good base for a 120 pvp fighter. So if you're done invading the lower level region, the lvl 75 can easily changed to a 120 dex character and the other 2 in almost every build, like faith, dex, str, bbs, spellsword. |
low level katana
I've been using these 3 characters for quite some time now and i really like them. Especially the lvl 85 build. Good damage, fast and enough hp to survive a firestorm.
Fantastic. Nice to see someone who knows what they're talking about. I like everything here except for MH, not because of the infamous spam capability, but because it simply goes against the theme, if you will. To deal with Warders, use SWS or B-Turp on your Makoto. Or, you can use the third variation with 30 Mag instead of Dex, use Makoto and have a Moon Uchi+5 as a backup to kill those Warders fast. :) +1 from me for an exceptional stat spread and some nice variations. Also nice to see a build that isn't at SL125 to the dot.
you cant enchant makoto. thats the problem, otherwise it could also be cursed.
But for the lvl 75 build its an option. i'll try it soon
but i must say. i rarely use the MH. Most of the time im skilled enough to kill them with makoto
edit: i've tried a moon uchi for warding. Works great. So thats maybe a good alternative for the MH…
Ahh that's right… Makoto not Enchantable… I was thinking of the Hiltless, which I see you have listed as well. It'd actually be better with that amount of Vitality, since it's HP drain is 3% x total HP/ hit if I am not mistaken. That means that you'll be taking less self-damage per hit because you have lower total HP. You could use B-Turpin & SWS on it too ^_^
And glad you like the the Moon Uchi. I just realized though, that you'll probably need a Sharp Kilij+5 to kill the shield users (it rips them apart). MH works wonders too, but a lil prone to Setup Parries.
i also tried the magic suggestion. lvl 75, with magic 25, insanity catalist. Didnt like it. Light weapon damage is just a little bit higher than the 65 makoto and the moon uchi damage is even lower than makoto… So if i make the makoto build also 75, you have 20 skillpoints more in either vit or end, so i think its better.
What's the AR on a Lighted Hiltless for the SL75 variation? If you take Magic to 30, you'll gain about 3 AR/ SL. Also remember that Light Weapon annihilates Warders, and Pushlocks to excessive damage.
Then again, Makato allows for much more survivability, so it might be the better option after all.
i think you just kicked my ass on 1-4 ;)
Your build is the only 1 i can never beat. a dss with a cursed estoc. 1 hit kill when you parry and impossible for me to break your guard. Not even with dragon hammer. Great build
Yup, standard Dex, but w/ 30 dex & 35 vit, 30 end, 16 fth, base everything else. For low lvl bluing. Host was making my Str Build. :p
I promise I won't have to recast SC next time if ya don't ward 8 times. xD A great fight, appreciated it.
yeah. problem was in the beginning there was some insane lag. You didn't move at all and bang, my 2nd chance broke. Didn't even know what happened ;)
What was your soul lvl? I used my 65
Actually, that was called a Riposte. :p Maybe it was laggy though.
SL70.
I am currently working on a build at SL70 for invading.
Stats are 30 | 15 | 33 | 20 | 14 | 12 | 16 | 7.
RH1: Northern Regalia RH2: Makato LH1: ToB » Adjudicators Shield LH2: Makato
I'll be able to alternate from ToB to Adj after I cast SC. I might also learn Warding, in which case I'd want to remove Adj completely.
With that setup, I can switch from lolkats that can 2-shot most phantoms to regeneration when my HP is low plus Northern Regalia. I can also pair an off-hand Makato w/ NR to PL or Parry » Riposte (NR Riposte damage is dreadful - about 1500 on a Red-Eye Knight in NG+.)
I still have some work to do on it, today was my first day invading. Didn't lose once though. ;) Thinking of raising Int to 18 and use Curse Weapon with some +10 weaponry, namely Kilij and Mirdan Hammer. Also considering Dragon weaponry (already got Drag MH, works phenomenal).
I tried almost the same build.
Stats are 40 | 14 | 30 | 18 | 14 | 12 | 16 | 7. sl 71.
Right: NR + Makoto, left: TOB + Adj Shield.
Binded set with Silver coronet, so u can have int 14 for 2nd chance + warding. str 18 for single handed makoto. I don't use the NR single handed, so i don't need str 20.
Also a very good build. Super fast Makoto and insane damage NR (especially a backstab, 1200+ damage, kills almost every blue in 1 hit) e.g. Makoto vs fast opponent that rolls a lot and NR against big shields and warding or vs a very good 2 player team that you can only beat with a 1 shot kill.
Noyce.
I have a build underway that I am doing without delivering, so I cannot feel guilty when I slaughter people. :p
Stats are:
Vit: Base
Int: 15
End: Base
Str: 18
Dex: 14
Mag: Base
Faith: 16
Luck: Base
This is easily completed by the end of NG, the last step obviously forging NR. So far, I've beaten 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, and 4-1. Shrine of Storms was difficult with base survivability stats, so I don't even want to imagine Flamelurker or Maneaters… >_> But I'll try my best in the name of fairness to those who I shall slay.
The build uses the exact same weaponry set you described, except with base Vit and End for a SL close to 25-30. I don't think I'll lose. :P
watch out for dragon+5 noobsticks ;)
I tried a sl 28 mage. Also very good. Only time i lost was against 3 vs 1 jumpers, so i couldn't cast 2nd chance. But i killed 1 or 2 blues always. Fireball explosion is great when they're standing together.
Kriss blade, tob, monks head wrapping, foes ring, magic ring. stats: Int 24, magic 20, faith 20. Rest standard. Start as Royalty. Magic: firespray, fireball, soulray. Miracle: 2nd chance.
dragon short sword with dark buckler as backup
Fireball will kill 95% of the blues in 1 hit. Soulray about 70% of the time. And firespray does around 130-150 damage. Very deadly
Firespray doesn't do that much o_O Try Insanity Catalyst with 30 mag & 16 fth with phosporescent pole & crestoc to make up for lost MP. At SL70 I was OHKOing :O
Just remade my low SL build. Stats are 11/11/13/18/13/6/16/7 SL15. RH1: Dragon Knight's Sword+5, Uchigatana+10 or Magic Sword "Makato"+5 | RH2: Dragon Great Axe+5, Kilij+10 or Dragon Mirdan Hammer+5 | LH1: Talisman of Beasts » Adjudicator's Shield+5 if I can afford the weight and am using Makato | LH2: Uchigatana+10 I now call it 'co-op discouragement services.' I find it annoying that people pussy out on the easiest of levels and make a blue do half the work.
Now, this may sound like the perfect griefing build. But I went through the entire game at SL15, without duping (except for CDS & Pure Dragonstone). I am currently in NG+, where the 2-2 Miners are more than able to one-shot me in body form. I havent co-oped at all (even NG+ Flamelurker who kills in two hits)
And heres what I do when I invade. If I find any blues, I get rid of them very quickly. Then, I'll help the host finish the level. If he thanks me (half of them do, and that's the only reason I do what I'm about to tell you) then I leave in peace at the boss fog. If he doesn't or if he tries to still attack me, I kill him. >:D
firespray 150 damage. 4 hits to kill most players at that lvl ;)
I already tried that lvl 70 build. I didn't like it. My dex did more damage and my makoto had more vit/end, same damage
I'll stick to my 71 makoto/NR ;)
