Gameplay tips and progression |
This build was my very first, however it's taken a long time to perfect. My LW Cleaver build inspired the idea behind this build. It is mainly designed for hosting, so keep that in mind. I've basically supplemented the concept of the spellsword with optimal use of the ToB for the SL. If taken t the 140's you can hardcap magic at 50 and really deal some damage. if you wish to proceed above SL 140, which is not highly recommended except for PvE only, get MAG to 50, FTH to 50, VIT to 50, INT to 40, and END to 40 (SL 188). At 50, you reach a point called a "hardcap" which means the gains in damage per point are extremely small. Again, it's recommended that you stay between 120 and 140. If you wanna mix it up, use light weapon with the iCat on your favorite enchantable weapon. I recommend the Meat Cleaver because it already has 156 magAR that you can add to. If you like pure melee, check out my LW Cleaver build. It plays similarly, but is much sturdier at the cost of spell-casting ability. Overall, try different strategies, find what works for you as you have a wide range of possibilities. AND A FINAL THANKS TO NICK, AS THIS BUILD WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT HIS SPELLSWORD BUILD. |
"Pushed" Spellsword (SL 133)
Ok, let's see…
Vitality is a bit low. This build can work with just 30, but any build that plans on using melee would be much better off with 40 Vitality. Possible solutions to this are:
* Lower Endurance to 30.
* Deduct 5 points each from Magic and Faith.
Other than that, no real complaints. One thing I would suggest is finding a way to lower the SL…generally the PvP community won't care, but most tournaments set their limit at SL 130. If you decide to go down a bit, your best bet would be deducting 5 points from Faith or Endurance. And make sure it is FAITH you deduct from, not Magic. It won't make too much difference which you choose, but between the two Faith is less important. Just take my word for it ^_^
Nice job overall.
P.S - This may just be the grammar nazi in me speaking, but it wouldn't hurt to organize your description a bit more. Don't worry about it too much though.

Hey guys. Any answers would be appreciated
I was wondering how much the Dark Silver shield affects the moon sword damage. If the shield decreases the magic damage, wouldn't the damage from the 'moon' modification be negated?
nope, that's set in the weapon. it only affects magic cast while it is out. thanks for the vote xD
Though about this myself and I came up with:
Vit: 40
Int: 30
End: 30
Str: 14
Dex: 13
Mag: 36
Fth: 36
Lck: 7
SL: 126
The low Str means no DSS but I still have access to katanas, claymores, poles, and everything in between. 30 End is a little low but shouldn't be a problem. A plus from me; definitely gonna try this build out.
i totally agree with that as a possibility. I personally like using larger weapons, but honestly, this build can get by quite well with something smaller such as a pole weapon, straight sword, and maybe even the GuillAxe 2H. 2H katanas are also possible, it's really up to preference. What i like about this build is the wide versatility and general effectiveness. The downsides are, of course, the low VIT/END, but melee is basically a fallback if your foe gets a little too close or overeager. Your magic power is quite high with the proper equipment. The best alternative to the DSS is the rune shield, especially for a mage. You'd be surprised at how tough this build is for a mage with such low VIT, but the high HP regen makes up for that deficit. Be wary, this is as tough to master as the spellsword, especially with low VIT, but again, that regen helps significantly and makes you less item-dependent.
the 8th SS build listed here, all very easy to beat….. -1 from me simply becasue of the lack of creativity here. the SS builds arenot great, it took me 3 minutes to master and ive hated them ever since for their lack of melee capabilities
Interesting that you've given 30 weapons to chose from, however a lot of them are dex weapons and require an additional 2-6 Sls. Is there somewhere I can find how ToB reacts (Spell assist/Miracle assist) for corresponding Mag/Fai stats. Particularly between 18/18 and 44/44.)
Overall SL too high for invading and Vit very low!
With 30 faith maybe you could use blessed weapons to the same extent of moon weapons, plus have the regen. And yes, while not giving a -1, I cant give a +1 for something that has been done before.
