Phosporescent Pole actually is very incometent with Melee on it's own… The best way to use it is with a Pure Mage as a defensive alternative to Spicing every 20 seconds. Try a Pure Mage with this setup: RH1-Kris Blade+5 | RH2-Phosphorescent Pole+5 | LH1-Talisman of Beasts | LH2-Adjudicator's Shield. I see Astrichthyes with this a lot and it is deadly. You can alternate between spellslinging bursts and resilient yet limited melee without ever having to stop for Grass if you play correctly. Very effective.
