Gameplay tips and progression |
In the beginning of the game, treat this character like a Meat Cleaver build. After beating Phalanx, increase Vitality & Endurance until you're comfortable, then increase Strength, Dexterity, & Faith. Go to 4-1 for the Crescent Falchion +1 and Compound Long Bow. Beat the Adjudicator, then go to Stonefang and defeat the Armor Spider & Flamelurker using you're shiny new Crescent Falchion. Make sure you get the Club from 2-2. Get Ed to make your club into the Meat Cleaver. Once you have your mighty Cleaver, you can go around and beat the rest of the worlds in whatever order you want. Make sure to use the Silver Demon's Soul for Light Weapon and the Hero Demon's Soul for Second Chance. Being a Quality build, the stats are spread a bit thin, and adding Magic into the mix just makes it worse, but the extra damage from Light Weapon should make it worth it. 40 Vitality is the bare minimum for melee PvP, and should be enough to let you take a few hits. 15 Intelligence gives you the spell slots & MP you need for both Light Weapon and Second Chance. 40 Endurance is the stopping point for max stamina, which will keep you from taking damage in the first place. 26 Strength is enough to one-hand the bigger weapons, like the Great Axe/Great Sword, and two-handing your weapons brings it to 39, about equal to your 40 Dexterity. 30 Magic is where Light Weapon stops giving good damage increases. 16 Faith is just enough for you to remember Second Chance, and 7 Luck is base. The high soul level of this build pretty much limits it to hosting and using the Red Eye Stone for dueling in the SL 120 range, but hosting works in this build's favor. Due to limited hand-slots, this build can't equip a talisman and the ICat at the same time. However, as a host, you can equip a talisman to cast Second Chance, then switch to the ICat and commence battling. Please comment on this build. Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated!!! |
LW Quality Build
You're taking Vitality too low and raising the SL too high. This would work great for higher level PvE, but it isn't ideal for PvP. Your best bet with these stats is MC.
Well, any build works great for PvE if you know how to use it, but I do see what you mean about the high SL. That's the main problem with any Quality build; too many stats to worry about. I would lower them if I could, possibly bring Str down to 18 and two-hand the big weapons, or 14 if you don't care to use those. It could also have a lower End, although I wouldn't go lower than 35; 40 is just my preference, because rolling has always been my main form of defense. My only problem with bringing Str down is that this build would have a heavier reliance on Light Weapon, and I'd rather my weapons do decent damage even without Light Weapon. Regarding the 40 Vitality, I don't really see a problem. I've always been just fine with only 40, although I wouldn't ever lower it beyond that. Anyways, thank you for commenting, I'll try and test out variations, try to work in higher Vitality at a lower SL and see if it works. As a conclusion, here's what the build would look like with those changes:
Vit 50
Int 15
End 35
Str 14
Dex 35
Mag 30
Fai 16
Luk **
SL 122
It has a higher Vitality and workable Endurance at a SL low enough to invade, but the damage would be crap compared to Str/Dex builds when Light Weapon isn't in effect.
Hi,
go for this one:
Vit 50
Int 18
End 40
Str 34
Dex 44
Mag 6
Faith 16
Luck 7
SL 135
It isn't to high for PvP if you plan only to fight as host or to go for Blue/Red Stone Fights. Use cursed waepon on this build and you will be fine. ;-)

Thanks for the recommendation, I've seen this build elsewhere in Character Builds. But I was trying to make a Quality Build using Light Weapon. I've got nothing against Curse Weapon; I know that the Curse Weapon version will (I think) outdamage my Light Weapon version every time. Mine might do better against people who use Warding, but the Curse Weapon version could just carry around SWS to counter that. I just posted this build for those who would want a melee build that can use almost any non-unique weapon well enough and still deal a good amount of magic damage. This is really just a niche build, for anyone who wants to try it out.
Glumort, that build is too high for Red Stone duels/ Bluing… Go with 30 End, 45 Vit, and 49 Dex, SL125. Also, this build will exceed in PL vs other Quality builds because of LW Push damage. But other than that, CW is pretty much more effective. Unless of course you're using Meat Cleaver, like I said earlier.
I wish there was a greater sum of higher SL PvPers, so that builds like this would be able to be used to full effectiveness. You'd see a lot more Q builds and Spellswords :O
