Recommended spells/miracles

Spells
Fire spray- for low cost plinking and baiting your opponent
Homing Soul Arrow- powerful but hard to use. Best used to buy some time to grass/spice/ward or right after a knockdown.
Soul Ray- for a fast general purpose spell
Warding- cast after SC cracks for extra survivability
Fireball- good damage and AOE fun. Pointing this at your opponents feet can help aim drastically.

Miracles
Wrath of God- Most of the fun of firestorm without using 3 spell slots
Second Chance- this one should be obvious

Gameplay tips and progression

Why the Crescent Axe rather than the Great Axe? Two reasons:
In order to two hand the Great Axe you need 18strength, 7 more than this build allows for. There aren't many spots you can pull points from and the trade off is only ~60 damage
Also, the Crescent Axe has a longer range than the Great Axe, making it more versatile. Think of it as the Claymore to the Great Axe's Northern Regalia. It can't quite hit as hard but makes up for it by letting you hit farther
