Gameplay tips and progression	The way I tend to play is, beat Phalanx first then go on to Armour Spider, this means that I will get more souls for leveling and by going to this area I can collect the materials needed to upgrade the Halberd. After this go on to the Shrine of Storms as to get the Large Sword of Seeking, you will need to defeat Old Hero (make sure before defeating Adjudicator you pick up either the Uchigatana or the Filij in 4-1 as you need to upgrade them to +8 standard to convert them into the Large Seeking Sword). Once you have completed Shrine of Storms, go on to complete Tower of Latria so then you have defeated Old Monk so you could go there for some PVP (plus I don't really like this area, so I find it best to finish it sooner rather than later). Next defeat Stonefang Tunnels and move on to Valley of Defilement. Once these have been complete finish Boletarian Palace then beat the game. Make sure to duplicate items to make it easier if you wish :)
