Gameplay tips and progression |
This build is a PvP based build meant to be played defensively while waiting for the opportune moment to strike. It is designed to wear your opponents stamina down (and possibly yours due to blocking/dodging) and then give you the advantage for the next engagement due to massive stam regen. The next attack will be yours since you possess the ability to strike extremely quickly multiple times; thus strike locking your opponent and preventing attacks or dodges. The bleed effect causes your opponent to have to attempt to engage you giving you the upper hand since that sort of playstyle favors higher stam/stam regen. If you can master this build and learn to control the battle; you should see a gradual increase in the amount of kills you dish out while in Black Phantom Form. Note: Ending your strike rotation with a back step strike (which is performed by pushing the left thumbstick forward and pressing R1 at the same time) allows you to disengage w/o allowing your opponent to retaliate with an attack of his/her own and also to regenerate your stamina for your next move. Note: It is important to remember to activate your Warding ability before your first engagement. If you happens to improperly time a dodge or a parry; that extra dmg reduc can be the difference of life and death. Thank You for taking the time to read my Demon's Souls Falchion OKD PvP Guide! Please comment and rate and let me know what you think. Constructive criticism is welcomed as long as it is remains mature and is not just a raw insult. Also, if you do choose to down rate my Guide I would really appreciate if you could leave a reason on the comment board containing the reason for the down rate as I am always trying to improve the Guide and I love being able to compare my ideas with those of others. Thank You again and Happy Demon Slaying! |
Falchion OKD (sl 120)
Why the use of Falchion over an Uchi? Also, why a Crescent and not a Moon?
Uchi gives a higher damage amount and also costs little stamina per swing. It's got a long range attack with it's sprint+R1 combo.
And why the 15 Dex? You need only, I think, 10 Dex to wield a Falchion or 13 Dex to use an Uchi. Also, I would recommend switching Heal to SC.
Otherwise, the build seems fairly sturdy and useable for sure.
The Uchi is definately a great alternative for the Flachion the only reason I prefer the Falchion is that I am more comfortable with its attacks and its style. The reason I chose Crescent over Moon was because the dmg from the Cescent weapon is high enough already from what i've seen and it also regenerates MP which is key when keeping up Wrding during long encounters (which will be experienced quite frequently with this build) Also the 15 Dex was just for a small AP increase which seemed more viable than others increases at that point. And yah I was actually thinking of switching out the heal cuz SC does seem a bit better since it doesn't require a cast time. Thank You very much for posting and I am definately going to further consider the suggestions you have offered.
if you prefer the curved sword moveset then try out kilij. just about everythign the same as falchion expect hi9gher base damsge
If you like the Falchion more than the Uchi, why not go halfway and get a Kilij?
Also, Anorack is right about the stats thing and that a Moon weapon with those stats would be better than Crescent, MP regen is defunct in Demon's Souls, especially in PvP.
EDIT: Esdren, that's creepy. We used almost exactly the same wording and I replied to Tye's post before you did, but forgot to hit confirm and went off into looking something up in another tab before coming back and actually posting, then seeing your post.

That guy with the Kilij in all those Tournaments.
Hmmmm the Kilij seems pretty nasty (and is exactly the same style as the Falchion too) definately gonna switch that if what you say about higher dmg is true. And I suppose I will try a Moon Kilij +5 since two others have now agreed that it is a better choice. And as you said Ilkar, MP regen isn't really THAT much of a loss when it comes to PvP. Thank you both for posting,
why do you have strength so high as well? Unless youre planning to use one of the massive weapons theres reall no need to raise it past 18 or so. stick those extra points into magic and youll add that much more damage to your weapons.
Id also suggest usign TOB instead fo 2 seperate items so you can have a 2nd weapon equiped. Somethign with longer rnage specifically.
I do actually sometimes use larger weapons (mostly for pve purposes) which is one reason I have the str up to 30. Also, I noticed a great decrease in the effectiveness of increases my magic skill in terms of the dmg of the weapon and noticed that it was better to try to spread out the bonus stats among Str/Dex/Magic to get the maximum bonus possible. Just picked Str over Dex cuz it had better affect aside from the weapon enhancement. Also, I prefer to use a Silver Catalyst and ToG simply because I don't really need another weapon as this build is desinged to combat all sorts of strategies and I like to keep the bonuses from both the ToG and Silver Catalyst while casting spells/miracles.
You really don't need 30 STR, the most you should ever have for this kind of build is 26 for 1H Moon GS. Also, using STR-DEX to up the damage at an E rating is ridiculous. you add between 1 and 3 damage AT MOST per stat point, which is an absolute waste. For any moon-build (which i assume this is despite the title suggesting crescent) your DEX would need to be 16 at most. Chances are, you only need 12-14. The raw damage from a moon weapon and the C rating from magic is what you rely on, so your VIT and MAG should be higher. I don't wish to be mean, just to say that this build needs major polishing.
