Ya I figured. Just wanted to toss that out there. (Hand of God is funny to use)

I made me a mage here this week. It's taking some time to get use, but so far, I'm loving it.

Royality
120

VIT 30
INT 40
END 22
STR 9
DEX 12
MAG 40
FTH 40
LCK 7

Monks Head Wrapping (I hate how I can't see with this thing lol)
Rouge Armor Chest piece (Added magic deffence)
Rouge Armor Gloves
Hard Leather Boots

LH1: ToB
RH1: Kriss Blade 5
LH2: Large Sword of Moonlight 5
RH2: Storm Ruler

Rings:
Body - Magical Sharpness and Clever Rats
Spirit - Cling and Friend/Foe

Spells:
Soul Ray
Homing Soul Arrow
Firestorm
God's Wrath
2nd Chance

I love using HSA to make a player spaz out and go into a dodge frenzy. It's usually during this time that I cast a firestorm to catch them off guard. Usually it's a 1 hitter.
Decided to use Gods Wrath, too. It's large AOE and ability to go thru solid objects is great, plus it can be used to trick a player.
They think I'm casting 2nd chance then boom, Gods Wrath to the face.

I didn't go with Morion Blade due to such low Vitality. So I put Storm Ruler in RH2 instead.
and I put the LSOM in LH2 to deal with DSS. Plus the LSOM blocks 80% of magic, which makes my mage do quite well in mage vs mage fights.

Still doing more playtesting as I am new to pure mage builds….. They are so fragile lol. but dang do they pack a punch!

well i was kinda going to try and get to at least NG+3 or 4 with this and see how it works. I've been liking it so far and if i come to a point where it needs a change, i'll try something else. I guess you wouldn't need to up str other then minor damage increase and other things to use, I think a pro would leave it at 16 for the Knight weapons. Once i get to SL 120, i'll list my stats and my opinion. I kinda think im trying too hard to make a build that's a cross between a faith build a dexterity build and a berserker build. Ahh well, so far so good. After doing a bit a research i might make my 2nd weapon a more POWER weapon, such as MC because of an added Faith bonus.

Hey there, Second chance requires 100 mp which is 15 intellegence. Looks like a pretty decent low level build, how high are you going to go with this ? Dragon Mirdan hammer would be a good choice, Also check the weapons page for the Northern Regalia. A few more stats and you could use that as well. If you are continuing to level Faith definetly go for some blessed weapons, depending on your prefrence ofcoarse. I wouldn't take strength much further as you don't seem to have any reason to based on your build description. For some other good tips take a look at this SL 123 build, I use it quite regularly and have become quite fond of it. http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/character-builds:74 The creator of this build definetly knows what he is doing, perhaps you could gather some ideas for yourself.

GL with your build :)

Also whan you get this build fine tuned, make an actual "build" page for this. That way others can rate your build and give you advice, as this will eventually be lost into the dark void of the forums.

After starting a new game and work on it all day, i've created somewhat of the build. Here it is

Build Name: God's Warlord

Stats:
Vit: 30
Int: (enough to be able to cast Second Chance, cant recall how much)
End: 30
Str: 16
Dex: **
Mag: **
Faith: 24
Luck: **

Gear: Assassin's Mask (or Silver Coronet), Coat of Plate, Black Gloves, Mirdian Boots

Weapons: Dragon Mirdian Hammer, Blessed Knight's Sword (or LSoM/Blind if you want), Dark Knight's Sheild, Talisman of God (or Beast)

Rings: Thief Ring, (ring of choice), Cling Ring, and Friend/Foe Ring

Miracles: Second Chance (any others if you can/want preferably God's Wrath)

Recomended starting class: Temple Knight

When starting as temple knight, you begin with heavy armor and a halberd. in 1-1, you want to bye a Coat of Plate from the Merchant. After 1-1 and 1-2, complete 2-1 for souls. Then in 3-1, collect the Black Leather set and use the mask and boots. also get the Silver Coronet in 3-1 just incase you'd rather wear that. quickly finish 4-1 and 5-1. by now if you haven't died, you should be at least lvl 30. After 5-1, lvl up and return to the leechmonger stone. quickly get the Mirdian Hammer in 5-2 (if you want, and can, get Istrale for the hell of it). Now simply play game as normal. Keep all Faint, Dragon, and Cloud Stone. so you might want to finish and grind in worlds 2, 3, and 5 for stones. Use Dragon stone for the Hammer. When you get the Knight Sword and Shield, create a Blessed sword with Faint Stones and a Dark Shield with Cloudstone. The Sword will act as a healing device and the Shield now has good Mag Def. Just keep uping your Vit, End, Str and Faith.

So far, this character has be destroying in PvE and has protected me from BP invaders. If you've any ideas, post um so we can make it better!

For PvE that is a good question. I would say as long as nothing can really one-shot you then you are "OK". If a boss does 500 dmg then a person having 900hp versus 600 hp you can see that all those points in VIT isn't going to save you. In this case effectively you will die in 2 hits regardless of the extra points spent in VIT. Of course this is just one scenario and PvP is another matter entirely.

I see your point, but Storm Ruler really is the best option if you want a knockdown weapon. It has fairly good range and moderate swing speed, and the knockback gives you room to work with. There's no point using Hands of God over Storm Ruler.

If you want to go with a faith build, go with a Mirdan Hammer if you want a spear-like attack, just remember, you cannot turtle behind a shield with a MH. As for listed Miracles, honestly, I wouldn't use Cure. Takes too long to cast leaving you vulnerable to backstabs or more attacks. Also, you only get 4 miracle slots max. SC is a good choice and God's Wrath you need to use for a preemptive strike or think strategically to get it off, as it also has a very long cast making it hard to get off mid-fight. Main thing to keep in mind using God's Wrath is it goes through walls. Very useful in PvE and for PvP to get people with it if you time it correctly. As for your secondary weapon, go with a Blessed Knight's Sword on a Faith build.

First of all to keep my Stats good, im debating wether to go with magic, faith, or neither and focus on other stats. I was thinking faith for Second Chance, God's Wrath, Cure, etc. because they seem more like tactical support then combat support. I was thinking of using two-handed that can be fast-ish (i was thinking maybe Winged Spear or Miridan Hammer, with a dagger or sword as secondary).

give any ideas.

Bows can be effective in PvP in the hands of a player with particular flair and skill with them, one of the best I've seen would be EWGF, and there are a lot of trick shots and other things you can use to make them a little more viable.
However, the very idea of a 'mage bow'-man is contradictory, why would you use a bow when you're already playing a build designed to utilise Magic in a long-ranged offensive capacity and you have excellent melee weapon choice?
If you want to use a bow, make a Dex build specifially for using a +5 Sticky Comp. Long, or White Bow, and make the most of the build you already have by employing magic rather than a bow with sub-par damage.
Everything does a lot of damage with hypermode, even your bare hands, so that isn't a reason to continue using the build you are now with a bow.
Just imagine the damage you'd do with hypermode on a properly built build designed to use Bows and Sharp weapons exclusively.

I don't know about them, but heres what I do:

1) Find a location
-where I can see my opponent a long ways off and make it difficult for them to reach me.
-where I can roll around when they get close or use other objects as obstacles for spell users.

2) Engage long range
-fire long range to disrupt prep and let them feel threatened
-cease long range when they begin rolling

3) Engage medium range
-Lock on and draw bow, if they are going to attack you, roll out because you can while drawing your bow
-Continue until they have exposed themselves

4) Engage close range
-Try to prevent this, switch to a melee or spell loadout, with melee you can drive them back with deadly uchis or with spells a firestorm does the trick
-Keep evading, when an oppurtunity presents itself, run to a location where your enemy will be funneled, lock on, turn and fire

And that's basically how I play it. Hyper mode is great because it only takes one shot for most people, but you ride the edge of a knife. If you see a heavy armor type from long range, heal up to full and switch your gear to be ready for melee/spells whichever your alternative is. If your pretty quick with the menu you can usually get this done before they are in medium range. EDIT: You are still engaging initially with bow, you just need the alternative gear for longevity since against a heavy type you are probabley not going to end the fight with one hit.

It's really hard to use a Bow against a human opponent. I assume this is because the arrows themselves have no tracking properties. In my experience I've found that I can circle strafe until my opponent fires a shot, then rush. I did read that post about the serious PVP bow user. I'm interested to know what tactics he or she used.

Yeah when I helped a friend in the BP fight in Monk's room, I went hypermode and told him just to sprint to the other side of the room. Sure enough, when I stepped in the guy had his back to me and I shot him 1000 damage per arrow (normal arrows). Normally I do a 600-800, he must of had something decreasing his defense.

I'll try to help….
Equiped weight is levelled up via raising endurance. Your equiped burden depends on your endurance stat. You can check it , by looking at status in the menu. You can run fast and roll fast as long as your equiped burden is less than 50% of maximum. So, if you can wear 50 weight, then 25 and under is what you need. If u go over 25, then u run slower and roll slower. If u go over 50, u cannot run or roll at all. Just walk.
Rogues armour and black leather are very good and very light, black leather is especially good in the poisoned swamps of world 5, because it raises poison resistance.
White bow is ok i suppose, but the lava bow is preferred ( fire damage and scales with magic stats) , or a viscious/sticky compound long bow ( great for high dexterity stat ) .
Add me on PSN BiONiC-ALiEN .

Look at your total equipable weight, divide that number by 2. As long as you do not pass that number you will have unhindered rolling. Most people go for 40 stamina which means your total equip weight should be less than 34.5. This is not just your armor though, it also includes all weapons you have equipped.

Hi, I'm new to the game playing a thief the traditional sneaky backstabbing thief way.
I'm looking at weapons/shields/armors for the best defense for the min weight. Looking like Runeshield, Secret Dagger, and either Black Leather or Rogue's Armor with White Bow.

Not that I'm far enough into the game to GET these things yet, I'm treasure-hunting for 'em.

What is the max weight you can have without hindering AT ALL a Thief's ability to dodge, roll, move, etc.?
Do stats increase this max?
Would a Rogue's Armor (1.5wt?) be significantly WORSE (for dodge/movement) than Black Leather (1.2wt?).

Thanks for your help guys

PS. Havne't found a decent "Build" in the "build" section for "sneaky" thieves.

Just curious, but what about a Gods Hand in RH?
You could use it's push ability to slam a player to the ground for very lil stamina consumption and then firestorm them while they are down.

Granted, it won't do jack for damage, since you won't be meeting the STR requirement, but it's knockdown and knock back effects could prove handy as they are rather quick.

Storm ruler is prolly the better choice overall, but god hand would still be great… if anything for S&Gs.

Yes I agree that bows are very seldom used in pvp, I have ran into a serious bow user twice. I can't remember his name but I believe he is a member of this wiki, and he is pretty good with a bow in pvp for harassment. The other time I got one-shotted by some guy in hypermode with i'm assuming extremely high dexterity.

I would consider taking a look at the character builds page. There's a good Magic/Melee build (Spellsword) that you may want to try out if you like that direction, just keep in mind its not geared for the beginner. With your stats currently, however, you could take a look at the Blueblood Build (top of the page, cant miss it) since 15 luck is wasted stat points without the Blueblood Sword, which is the only weapon that gets bonus damage for luck.

Bows are really tough to use in PvP for actual duels and the only real bow i've seen used is a Sticky Compound Bow +5 with White Arrows on a Dexterity Build, which outdamages the Lava Bow even with high magic.

I highly recommend following a good rated build on the Character Builds page, its a great place to start and you can always delevel if you want to change a few things around.
