Wikidot will be the first one to tell you that they are not designed, nor intended, to host forums. So, I have opened a new location where we can have a fully featured (and for most of you familiar) messaging board. Registration is quick and painless.

The moderators of the forums and I have been testing things out and tweaking issues that we find. However, we are sure there will be some things we have missed. Please let us know of any issues you encounter, and we will address them as soon as possible.

Make sure you read the rules from the start, because you will be held accountable for your actions.
First of all to keep my Stats good, im debating wether to go with magic, faith, or neither and focus on other stats. I was thinking faith for Second Chance, God's Wrath, Cure, etc. because they seem more like tactical support then combat support. I was thinking of using two-handed that can be fast-ish (i was thinking maybe Winged Spear or Miridan Hammer, with a dagger or sword as secondary).

give any ideas.

Hi, I'm new to the game playing a thief the traditional sneaky backstabbing thief way.
I'm looking at weapons/shields/armors for the best defense for the min weight. Looking like Runeshield, Secret Dagger, and either Black Leather or Rogue's Armor with White Bow.

Not that I'm far enough into the game to GET these things yet, I'm treasure-hunting for 'em.

What is the max weight you can have without hindering AT ALL a Thief's ability to dodge, roll, move, etc.?
Do stats increase this max?
Would a Rogue's Armor (1.5wt?) be significantly WORSE (for dodge/movement) than Black Leather (1.2wt?).

Thanks for your help guys

PS. Havne't found a decent "Build" in the "build" section for "sneaky" thieves.

Hi, I am on my first play through of DS I have everything done on NG except 1-4, I have been putting it off so I can farm it for souls while I acquire everything I want before moving to NG+. I am working on a build that I haven't found anything similar too here and that made me suspicious that it had some gaping flaw I was overlooking, here is what I have currently:

SL: 76
Vitality 38
Will/Intelligence 13
Endurance 18
Strength 18
Dexterity 18
Magic 11
Faith 16
Luck 15

I started as a thief and kind of adjusted to how I was playing the game, mostly using hyper lava bow. I had more points poured out between End Str and Dex, but I deleveled myself to redistribute some. Maybe I need to do so more, or maybe I should arrange to have my items transferred to a new char, that'll be mostly up to what feedback I get ;).

Here is what I currently am aiming to reach:
SL: 127
Vitality 40
Will/Intelligence 26
Endurance 30
Strength 18
Dexterity 18
Magic 40
Faith 16
Luck 15
*I could delevel out some more stats elsewhere to get will/int to 30.

Equipment:

RH1: Lava Bow
RH2: Moon Uchigatana +5 / Crescent Uchigatana +5
LH1: Morion Blade / Crescent Uchigatana +5
LH2: TOB / Insanity Cata
Armor: Binded + Monk's Hood
Ring 1: Clever Rat's Ring / Cling Ring / Eternal Warrior's Ring
Ring 2: Friend or Foe's Ring (depending on Form) / Ring of Magical Sharpness
Spells: Firestorm or Homing Soul Arrow + extra
Miracles: Second Chance

As you can see I left a lot of combinations up for thought including hyper mode lava bow, mage blade, etc. The general idea is that I can fire off high damage bow attacks because the Lava Bow's fire damage scales with magic, and also use high powered magic like a firestorm (hyper) on someone who tunnel visioned because im using a bow or Homing Soul Arrows (non hyper) on someone who gets knocked down by the bow stun. Since I am heavy in magic, moon/crecent uchis will allow me to dish out good melee damage as well.

Well that's the idea, please let me know your recommendations!

I have had the game roughly for about 2 weeks. Mind you that this time has been spent messing around with the various builds, characters etc.

My thanks goes out to the Ninja Build. Picked a Wanderer and made it past Phalynx. Then out to where Miralda roosts. while attempting to get by her (Thief Ring equipped) she fell and I looted her. Couple the build with a Wanderer, Masters Ring, and the Binded Cross set….damn nice!! Thanks! still playing with it though, trying to keep everything evened out while I level up.

PSN——Mindsnap_29, add me if you want :)

When I started reading the forums, I noticed everyone has decent amounts of upgrades on endurance and vitality, which I have thus far neglected.

How badly have I messed up?
My question is I just started my 2nd playthrough and i realize the importance of specializing.

The problem I have is that my character is like a jack of all trades character so is it too late to start specializing

Here`s my stats so far

25 vitality
30 endurance
36 strength
25 dex

all magic and mana related skills are pretty much not leveled
i started as a temple knight current soul level is around 90 i think i just finished the first playthrough
so i don;t think i`m not that screwed i only leveled those magic related skills to learn key prayers and magic spells like one time revival and warding etc

so do you guys have any ideas what i could do with those stats

as an edit:

i do have a +5 quality winged spear, used pretty much through my later half of my 1st playthrough,

i use it to play sort of a super fast agile phalanx build and i get a lot of people with it in pvp also lol

After looking at the chart it makes no sense to go pass SLv 170-180. Everything levels off at 170 and beyond. Your Physical Power levels off which is most important. Your Item/Equipment burden will still rise but that really has no affect on yuor game style once you reach 170. I was going to SLv 250 but I will stay between 170-180.

Look at the chart under character and let me know if I am reading it wrong.

I just made a build called Wayfaring Stranger that is directed towards new players who have no idea what they want to do, but don't want to waste soul levels. Please check it out and give some feedback to help improve it, and rate it so more new players will see it.

I think I might have overdone dex. I personally think the weapons it gives you access to justify the investment, but I'm still not certain since I see a lot of builds use lower dex if they aren't dex based.

The build isn't anything special, its just a starting point for more advanced builds, and allows you to experiment with every play style in the game, which I think is essential for new players.

Ok

Im creeping up on 1000 multiplayer sessions. Im at like 927.

Especially lately i see people getting their best weapon right away. At the cost of everything else.

I like to help in 1 - 4 at the end of a game when im changing my world tendency.
Right now my character is carrying a moon knight sword + 5, Crescent estoc + 4 (didnt get pure to drop in first play through). I wear old kings armor, with a dark silver shield +5. Ohh and just for kicks im doing a dex/magic build so i have a +3 kilij and light weapon for fun. So i have a weapon for any situation.

Im helping people with a meat cleaver tower shield no freaking armor and no health. Or a great axe with adjudicators shield on their back and they cant roll.

It just makes no sense to me.
I can take a hit from the dragon flame as a phantom and still live. Most hosts can not.
I usually destroy the whole level while the host is trying to catch up with their slow big weapon.
Then when we get to the king at the end i watch as they keep the shield on their back and get destroyed by the king. I mean big weapons are way to slow to beat him efficiently. You swing 2 times and he has recovered and is soul sucking you.

I have also figured out on bosses that my smaller 1 handed weapons usually do more damage then you big weapon. I get 3 swings in to your one. So yes your 1 swing does 600 damage. However my 3 do 650.

Does any one out there not use a large weapon, blue blood sword or and uchi??? Or am i the only person who does??

Even when i level up i focus on health and endurance. I mean if when i do a mage build the LAST stat i pump is magic. I get 30 vit 30 end, all my other stuff where i want Ie faith, int. Then i pump my damage stat.

My mage build at say level 70 ish would be

vit 30
int 24
end 30
str 18
dex (base so 12 ish)
magic 20
faith 16
luck (base so 7ish)

I just dont get it. If your planning on getting to 120 and pvp then why do you need to be using your meat cleaver at level 50? To look cool?
Why not use a weapon that helps you beat the game, soul farm, etc. If you get invaded well then maybe bust out your best weapon.

Or instead have a phantom like me to come in and beat the whole level for you only to have you die in one blow of a fire breathing dragon after we fended of 3 black phantom invasions.
Im really beginning to hate big weapons. I just see them as slow and clunky. And all i can think when im a blue is "Great well this host will be no help to me".

it seems like people know how to reduce a stat of their choice when they lower their soul level…

i was wondering how do you do this??

so is it possible that i can put more stats on magic and then learn poison cloud then reduce the magic???(cause even though i got 2 slots for magic, Sage Freke wont even talk to me for having low magic)

when i lose a soul level, it seems that i lose my main stat and dont get any choice at all

EDIT* ok ive done some research and i guess you cant really lose stat of your choice

but i thought of something.

if i make a new character, then upgrade my magic to 10 and intelligence to 14.

after that i only upgrade vitality (someone told me vit cant be deleveled) -and learn magic ofc

when i am around lvl 50-60 i ask someone to soul suck me and i lose all my intelligence and magic then. upgrade my intelligence again and my magic is still 5 while i can cast the spells still.

would that work??

stats (** = keep at default stats)

Vit: 40
will/Int: 40
End: 35
Str: 30:
Dex: **
Mag: 20
Fai: **
Luk: **

Gear:

R1: Moon Winged Spear
R2: ToB
L1: Tower Shield
L2: Dark Silver Shield
Head: Monk's Wrappings
Chest: Black Leather
Arms: Black Gloves
Boots: Black Boots
Rings: Magical Sharpness and Great Strength

Spells/Miracles:
Warding
FireStorm
(Poison/Death cloud for temporary needs)
Second Chance (if Fai is high enough for 2 slots, if not, Cure or Evacuate as they replace useful items)

I think Tower Knight inspired me for this build with his magic spear throw. It's basically as it sounds, being able to defend yourself, possibly roll (yet to be tested at full stats) and do good damage. I recommend doing either Royalty or Magician for starting class as they have Catalysts, which will save you some time. In 1-1 do WHATEVER it takes to get as many souls as possible to get high stats. once at say, 30,000 souls, buff your Vit, Int, and Mag stats. Next, do #-1 for every world while saving Frake to get spells, do everything possible in each world, to get more souls ASAP. Use the Wriggling Demon Soul to get Poison Cloud from Frake and then begin suiciding your body form in world 2 to gain pure black world tendency. This will unlock BP Scirvir. Equip Thief Ring and Graverobber Ring and have Poison Cloud. Stay back and keep casting PC until he dies and drop the ToB. Next complete any world (preferably 2 to get Dragon God's Soul for later spell (DO NOT CONSUME OR GIVE TO FRAKE!!!) and Red Hot Soul for Ed. After completing world 2, complete 1-2 and 1-3 while saving Biorr (to make boss slightly easier) and Yuria (for Firestorm) and getting the Tower Shield from near Biorr's Cage. once you've finished 1-2 and 1-3, now start grinding moon stones in world 3 after buying a spear from the Dreggling Merchant in 1-2 or 1-3. Let the Monk in 3-3 summon you so you can get the Wrappings after winning the fight. Now simply play through the rest of the game. Use Garls Shield as a second shield. so you have a shield for 2 different scenarios (if you want, you can make a Dark Steel Shield [Steel Shield with Cloud Stone] to make a decent combo of both and use a Kris Blade in your other slot to increase Mag Damage. I Placed the shield and ToB in different hands to be able to defend yourself while being ready (i find it useful to block a BP's attack and then use a powerful Firestorm to kill them while they're stunned.)

If you have any ideas please reply.

Most of whom usually kick my rear, but hey, can't win em all I guess. lol.

Anyways, back on topic:
I have a vit build SL 120

VIT 73
INT 18
END 40
STR 20
DEX 14
MAG 12
FTH 16
LCK 7

Spells/Maricles are:
2nd Chance
Warding
Poison Cloud

Off hand:
ToB
Morion Blade

Right Hand:
Northern Ragalia
Spike Shield +10

Rings:
in body: Clever Rats/Dull Rats

Spirit Cling Ring/Friend or Foes Ring.

I'm just messing around with the shield right now for S&G', but it's actually quite fun! Especially when Hyper mode kicks in. Hyper Turtle is quite the laugh.

NR is an obvious given, but At times, I hate it's predictability and speed.
I've made some dragon weapons to test out for this:
Goulotine and Claymore.

I find them to be good vs non armored foes, but against those with armor, they don't do much.
So I'm wondering, outside of the NR, what would be some other good weapons to play around with?
I'm debating on making a Dozer axe for versatility, but I may make a form of great Axe to use for added power.
Perhaps a dragon or +10?

I'm new to vit builds, so any thoughts on improvement would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

So I'm getting to the stage where it won't be long before I do everything with my current character. I've been looking through some of the posts on here, and it's apparent that creating an all-round character isn't the best way to go. It's served me fairly well playing the game offline, but I would like to have a character that I could use to play online one day (I've already gone way past level 120 with my current one anyway).

I don't know if it will help much, but I may as well list my current stats, and what weapons and spells I use most of the time.

Vitality: 45
Intelligence: 30
Endurance: 34
Strength: 41
Dexterity: 30
Magic: 26
Faith: 22
Luck: 25

RH1: Dark Purple Flame Shield +3
RH2: Talisman of Beasts
LH1: Blueblood Sword
LH2: Sticky Compound Bow +3

For the armor, I use the Assassin's Mask, and the Venerable Sage outfit for everything else. As far as spells go, I usually use Soul Ray and Light Weapon, and usually Evacuate and Second Chance for my miracles.

My style of play is mainly melee, but I like being able to use spells as well. I rarely use the bow to be honest, it's just there to fill a gap really, because I carried the Silver Catalyst and Talisman of God before getting the Talisman of Beasts. Oh yea, and I prefer to be able to move around quickly, which is why I've been using the lighter armour for a while now.

Looking through the builds on this site, the Blueblood Swordsman looks like a good build, but I just wanted to find out if that was really the most suitable option for the way I play the game. I see the Sharp Uchigatana mentioned a lot, can that be a better weapon choice depending on what course I take with another character?

I'm sorry if the answer to what I'm asking is fairly obvious, but despite having played through the game a few times, I'm kinda clueless as to what to do to make a really effective character. If any more information is needed, then I'll be happy to post it.

Thanks :)

So, here is the build I just thought up.

Starting Class - Royalty
Stats

Vit-40
Int-25
End-40
Str- 20
Dex- 12 (Not Raised)
Mag- 40
Faith- 16
Luck- 7 (Not Raised)

Weapons/Shields

R.Hand 1- Moon Guillotine Axe+5
R. Hand 2 - Moon Mirdan Hammer+5/Crushing Claymore+5

L. Hand 1 - Talisman of Beasts
L. Hand 2 - Baby's Nail/Marion Blade

Spells

Set 1 - Warding and Soul Ray
Set 2 - Cursed Weapon and Soul Ray

Miracles

Second Chance or Anti Magic Field

I am currently in the process of making this build, so, it has yet to be tested for effectiveness in PvP.
Reason I choose Guillotine Axe is just cause I like it.
Crushing Claymore is listed in there purely as a last ditch effort and hope if your Guillotine Axe isn't working, and thats why I have Cursed Weapon in the second spell set.
As for the ring slots, I am not sure what to use, I am between either in Body Form going with Eternal Warriors and Clever Rat's Ring or Graverober's Ring and Clever Rat's.
As a BP it is obviously going to be Foe's Ring and Cling Ring and as a Blue it would be Friend's and Cling.

Anyways, I would like to see other people's input on this build and any suggestions are welcome.

Has any one ever had luck with a faith/magic build??

I was doing some rough figuring and i was gonna try a new build. I was no good at my stealth mage build so i scrapped that one. Im not really a stealthy kind of player. Just dosent seem to be my play style.

I would do

40 endurance
18 magic (opens up all kinds of possibilities. Firestorm warding and posion cloud for ranged pve soul ray and then you have 2 other slots)
36 faith. Get the 4 spell slots. Since most people seem to think diminishing returns. Dont see a need to go much over 40
Dex 13 (for uchi)
Strength 20 ish (lol i wanna try the guillotine axe)
My magic would be right around 30. Just depends on how much vitality i want vs magic.

So i would have the ability to use blessed, moon and crescent weapons.
I could then switch it up with many different combinations.
I was thinking blessed guillotine axe, moon uchi and crescent estoc.

Just wondering if any one out there has had good luck with something along those lines??
I would not be powerful in one stat but able to be a jack of all trades of sorts.

Lol i just though Firestorm AND wrath of god. Would any one see that one coming?

I want to start a new guy capped at the 60 to 80 range…probably 75. Has anyone built one optimized for that SL? What should the VIT and END is your build? Do you have SC?

Here is what I'm thinking. If the SL is 80 I would pvp with some in the 90 to 100 range and opponents would have SC by then. To have SC I would need to invest in INT and Faith. With limited points here are my options:

1) Faith Build with blessed weapons…I'm already invested with SC.
2) No SC more VIT and put points towards DEX or MAG.

I'm thinking VIT 30 and END 25 ish….
