New Forums Are Open

Old forums will remain online and you may post (but not create new threads) until Monday, May 24th at 5:00PM EDT. After the old forums will be set to archive mode and you can no longer post.

Well, I have been working on this for quite a while now, and between real life and work it did not progress as fast as I had hoped.

As many of you are aware the forums here on Wikidot leave a lot to be … desired. Wikidot will be the first one to tell you that they are not designed, nor intended, to host forums. So, I have opened a new location where we can have a fully featured (and for most of you familiar) messaging board. Registration is quick and painless.

The moderators of the forums and I have been testing things out and tweaking issues that we find. However, we are sure there will be some things we have missed. Please let us know of any issues you encounter, and we will address them as soon as possible.

Make sure you read the rules from the start, because you will be held accountable for your actions. Ignorance is no excuse. The rules are posted at the top of every single forum.

Thanks, and enjoy.

http://forums.demonssouls.info

My second time through Demon's Souls picked up a lot of background knowledge and extra hidden bits. I realized that this game actually has a deeper narrative and it's also very intriguing to think about the background story. There's a lot of subtle hints throughout the game to carry on deeper narrative and an awsome-er story.

I don't know if this feature is already implemented, at which point I just can't find it, but it would be nice if we can see what threads we have posted in. This feature may be hard, since our forum account is actually through wikidot, and they'd have to be the ones to make that change.

I know that there is no official way to measure range on a melee weapon. However, the administrators on this site have gone through extensive testing with how each weapon works. Perhaps a scale of ranges could be created to help players pick the most suitable weapon. (ie. a 1-10 range from least range to greatest range)

Dagger

range of 1

Dragon Bone Smasher

range of 10

Hello, was poking around the wiki and noticed when you click on a tag, it goes to a page that doesn't exist. So basically tags aren't working. I noticed in this thread that you removed the sidebar tag cloud. Now I agree with removing the tag cloud from the sidebar, as I've looked on other sites and really it just takes up valuable real estate. However, I think it would be useful to have actual tags that work so you can find related topics efficiently.

I was wondering if a field could be added for new builds that tells who created them. A lot of times when I see a build I really like, I have no idea who made it. It doesn't have to be mandatory; but I figure if they creator wanted people to be ablew to contact them about it, they should be able to sign their build.

If you change the character builds screen to the 'Sorted by Name' tab and then use the page controls to move to page two or three then it resets to the 'Sorted by Rating' tab. Clicking on the 'Sorted by Name' tab again does then take you to the correct tab and page so it's not a big problem, but it's a little confusing to have the order change on you whenever you move page.

You can either rate the character builds "+" or "-". I think it would be a better idea too remove the -. Do it like the message on ground system in demons souls. Rate it, well, if its good, or not at all.
To get alot of minus (-) would be rather disencouragin (excuse my spelling mistakes, writing on the phone) for a new player.
Too get feedback to help improove his class would be better than the minus who are more like "your class suck". Its also way too easy to just spam down classes by giving out those -'s
If someone use the minus system to remove bad builds, is it a solution for that too. Everyone can clarly see if its a beginner doing his best posting a class, or a troll. It should be easy to sort out the guys who are kidding. Go for names like: the omega build of infinite power and destuction. And have stats like vit: 15 end:99 dex:78…. Ahh, ill stop. You get the point. At least consider the idea xD

This is Also a feedback page, so i also want to thank the admins, mods, and members who mAkes this forum better.
A special thanks to ilkar who helped me out ALOT with timezones before the tournament :D i eventually came but forfeited (too tired) anyway. I would have lost anyway, since im a beginner. Fun to see how it worked, though. So thankies to ilkar xD

Umm.. I guess thats all. Excuse my spelling mistakes lol :p

Shouldn't there be a page for the status effects in Demon's Souls? Specifically Bleed, Poison and Plague. I've recently found that many don't know the specific effects of the statuses, and there's no reliable place on the wiki or internet in general to find information about it. I believe it may be in the handbook somewhere, but…I lost mine a long time ago ^_^ And from the questions I see when I search for information, a lot of others did too.

So, if it's all right, could I create a page for each of these? I wouldn't mind doing it. The problem is, I have no idea how it should be formatted or how to create tables and organized lists. The only HTML I've done on the wiki is adding links to pages. Usually all I do is rephrase or reorganize information for an easier read ^_^

Let me know, and thanks in advance.

I have noticed lately that some data is being added or updated on this site which is really nicely precise, but which is directly copied from other copywrited sources. I liked it as the wiki was developed and grew into capturing user experiences and trying to figure out how things work. There have been some errors and bad assumptions, sure, but it evolves towards better data as we figure it out. Now we just copy from others? We already know the strategy guide contains some errors or items which don't match the N.A. release, so I'm sure there could be differences in the asian versions as well.

Example: the Valuable Weapons page, which has now all confirmed weapons listed — the editor told me that he was able to "confirm" them all by copying from the list in the Atlus strategy guide.

Example: all the bosses now have a nifty table with specific numbers for all their weapon and elemental resistances. As above, they are all copied verbatim from the strategy guide numbers! There isn't even any need for the precise numbers since we don't have formulas for damage and resistance, so this is just gratuitous copying.

Example: all the weapon thumbnails are now super high res and beautiful; much nicer than the old random screen capture crops we had before… because they are all direct copies of the thumbnail images added to the Atlus wiki, which I am guessing probably also copyright.

Don't we have some policy here about copying information?

On the Character Tendency page, for changing your CT from White to Black it states that you have to be in soul form when killing the harmless NPC's in order for your Tendency to change.

At the end of my NG, while in Body form, starting at PWCT I killed Dregling, Filthy Man, Royal Mistress and Bilge. After killing them my CT was PB.

I don't know if this was/is a difference in the NA release or not but I thought I would throw that out for conformation and change of info.

Recently I have been finding a bunch of links to pages that don't exist. The issue seems to be that links to people are prefixed with "npc-", links to spells are prefixed with "spell-" etc., even though the actual pages don't have that in the url. Are the page url's being changed, or are the links messed up? An example would be most of the links on this page: http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/ds-dragon
