Claws +8 is a valid upgrade path.

Did you remember to give Ed a Red Hot Demon's Soul in your current playthrough?

Even if Claws+8 is listed as a pre requisite, it is NOT the case ! It was tempting for me to build it because of the lowest chunks needed to upgrade it to +8. Sadly it turns out claws are not used to make this sword….

Will the LSoS still give you extra drops even if you dont have enough Dex with a character?

A few more quick notes to my warning above. Just to be clear, my soul level did not change during the two above tests, nor did my world tendency change. I was in soul form during both tests (i.e. both with and without LSoS equipped).
