Once an NPC is aggro'ed they stay so untill the next playthrough. You might just have to kill him and do your upgrades in NG+, or whichever you are on.

Is he aggro in 2-1 as well?

Now he is constantly aggressive towards me, and I really dont wanna kill him since I wanna get my large splinter of stones from him. Is there any way for me to reset the aggro?
