Does anyone have a good strategy for NG+ Flamelurker?
One is really cheap but it works, When you enter the Flamelurker's area, run right past him, to his right, and race up the steps behind him (the ones leading to the Dragon God). Just to the right side of the doorway; there should be a 'pocket' behind some rubble. Positioning yourself in that area, up against the wall and in the corner, turn around and use arrows/magic/etc. to burn him down—he won't be able to get at you due to poor AI (he'll rage directly in front of you or move to the right and come back), just make sure you bring a lot of Spice or Arrows cause it could take a while.
He can reach you after dodging a few of your shots he will charge at you, you will then need to run away then get back to that area with him following you so you can get him stuck again.
I'll think of one for you in a sec, I'm just about to fight it using no flame resistance gear and a meat cleaver solo xD.

Equip your purple flame shield(nice to have it with lots of +++) & ring of flame resistance, if you have heat resistance gear put it on, go in with a quick weapon with good reach.
You MUST be able to roll, and it's nice to be able to regen stamina at full speed. Keep your shield up, after he attacks, run around behind him and get a couple hits in, roll away if you're low on stamina. He'll do the jumping backwards thing which will do a bit of damage to you, once you're below half HP I'd advise that you run behind a pillar and use a full moon grass. Rinse & repeat, whittle him down until he dies! Magic damage on your weapon really helps(I used blueblood).
Alright, I beat him, along with dragon god, thanks for the help everyone.
If you are looking for a legit way to beat him do this. I just beat him on NG+ after failing many times at level 60. I would suggest leveling up to at least 80 and Learning/Remembering Soul Ray from Sage Freke. When you enter the Flamelurker's chamber, run to the other side of the stone columns on the left. You will find some spinal bones left by a huge creature sticking out of the ground (do not confuse these bones with the ribcage). You can circle around these bones to keep enough distance between you and Flamelurker while casting Soul Ray. Since the Soul Ray pierces through multiple enemies with a single cast, it will also pierce the bones sticking out of the ground and cause damage to Flamelurker.
Not sure why you specified that as legit when it's just as bad as the other questionable tactics xD.
Anything that involves you using the spine or ribcage to prevent him reaching you is treated by some elitist players (myself included) as being not only not legit but also just plain unnecessary.
With adequate knowledge of his movements, the ring of flame resistance and almost any attack strategy coupled with the ability to press the circle button, Flamewalker isn't anywhere near as hard as people make him out to be.

Fair enough, your Royal Elite Highness XD. If you like to make the game more challenging (and therefore more satisfying) by fighting Flamelurker in an open-arena, go for it. However, I disagree with you when you say that my suggestion is just as "bad" as other questionable tactics. For one, my tactic does not take advantage of the inconsistent AI scripted for the Flamelurker in his environment. He has the path-finding ability to follow around the spine without treadmilling indefinitely. Also, the developers that invented the game we're playing intended for us to be able to cast the Soul Ray though the spine. Its fair because the Flamelurker also has an attack that passes through. Finally, the Flamelurker is not in an open arena, but in an area where we can use obstacles to incorporate into our tactics.
One more thing, this is a game after all. If you want something that is suited for your elite taste, I suggest lighting an angry gorilla on fire and fighting him in a cage. Just don't forget your ring of flame resistance:)
I'd summon you in as a blue phantom just to spite you xD.
Nah, I'm just all for epic straight up sword to face battles. Frankly, in a game this difficult, I have no trouble accepting the use of whatever the hell tactic works lol.
You make a valid point for either case, in essence, it's basically a situation of play it in whatever way you want, for whatever reason. I was just making sure to note in this topic that suggesting methods involving using the environment against bosses are somewhat frowned upon by a significant percentage of players, and it'd be good for someone like yourself who clearly has a good knowledge of how to play the game and what strategies work to add a little something about how…well…to use your analogy, one should go about tangling with the angry flaming gorilla in the cage, rather than through the bars ^^.
TLDR: We have plenty of ways to beat it using strategies like that, so maybe you can suggest one with your good knowledge of the game that is a little bit different or more suited to people like me who are masochistic about games.

I do not deny that my tactic makes the game easier. I also do not deny that it was born out of extreme frustration from losing many epic battles. I found it on accident, too. It "felt" realistic, so I went with it.
I've had that happen many times too, for instance I got frustrated trying to melee Armour Spider in my first playthrough and found by accident that if you stand next to the tunnel wall on the right hand side it can only hit you with web - problem solved hehe.

Indeed. I want to try something a little different this time just to see how many good strategies we can compile.

For my first go-around, I was leveled up enough and had several upgrades on the purple flame shield to survive one of his attacks. I used the winged spear to attack from distance. I always made sure there was space behind me and enough stamina to roll back as dodging to the side does gain enough distance from his jump or aoe attacks. The main thing is to be aware of your stamina and the space behind you at all times.
In my experience, Soul Light + Total Protection (with the Insanity Catalyst, Kris Knife +5, Monk's Head Collar, and Ring Of Magical Sharpness) is the quickest way to kill him. Sneaking behind him and casting Poison Cloud is the easiest (albeit the slowest) method. I normally play as a female Royal and focus on spells, so my Will and Magic are usually pretty high by NG+.
With a female Temple Knight, I killed him with a Blessed Mirdan Hammer +5. I had the Mirdan armor set, the Ring Of Flame Resistance, and the Total Protection spell. I also had the Purple Flame Shield +10 with me, but it was more effective to just run, roll, and dodge (not easy in that armor), so that I could keep two hands on my weapon.
Yeah, I wish I had've done that sensibly and not like a lunatic.
For the record, use Sticky White Stuff if you insist on using a weapon like the Meat Cleaver.
However, he does flinch quite often so as long as you avoid his AoE your life is made a little easier.

if oyu still need help pm me on psn if you around sl 100 and ill help as a blue my psn is:zammyscorp
I do it with magic. When you enter, there will be some skeletons to your right, which you can go around the whole way, i shoot straight through it and it'll hit Flamelurker. He'll try to hit you by lunging, but he'll be blocked by the skeletons. Just be sure you're far to avoid his big flame thing and not on the same side of the skeleton as he is.
Rinse and repeat, it's quite easy.

Souls of the lost…
I'd actually go so far as to advocate what I just did actually…except use flame res gear.
I might add a little Meat Clever strategy to the Flamelurker page, for NG+.
Literally just rolling and spamming the R2 attack it takes about 12 hits to kill him with 28 str, 28 dex and 20 faith.

I've tried to do the glitch on the stairs and it never worked for me. I usualy go in run right past him to his left where a spine is sticking out of the ground. Equip the theif's ring and whatever other ring you think you need. Get behind the spine and he'll just give up and turn around(if you have the theif's ring on) now either shoot him with an arrow or if you feel like it 2-hand your weapon and do a heavy shot. A spear works great for this because it has some range to its heavy attack so you can sneak up behind him and do the heavy attack without having to worry about getting spotted. After the attack quickly 1-hand your weapon, put your shield up, and back away.If he come around the spine circle around to the other side. This strategy is excellent and I have never died using it. Remember to use some common sense in this situation though if he spots you while your sneaking up on him start blocking quick.
Actualy nevermind the spear bring a meat cleaver buffed with sticky white stuff like Ilkar said but use my strategy. If it kills him in 12 shots like he said then the fight will be done in an instant and you probably won't take any damage(as long as your careful). Thanks for the tip on the meat cleaver Ilkar.
Glad someone found it useful ^^.

I've found that his moves keep him occupied in a pretty small area. If you lock-off of him and sprint away, you'll be able to avoid him completely, and fire spells/arrows at him until he gets too close. His flinching really slows him down. Then, just lock-off of him again, sprint away, and give him a wide berth. This tactic only becomes difficult when he enters "rage mode", and starts spamming AOE fireballs. Best way to avoid those is to dodge roll BACKWARDS. At that point, water veil and ring of flame resistance will help in case he gets a hit in. If you're careful, you can take him down solo every time.
Ah, thanks DavidScott you touched on something I forgot to mention there!
When dodging, roll backwards! Side rolling still leave you open to most of his attacks, especially the jumping lunge and explosive AoE. I can't emphasise this enough, I can't believe I totally forgot about it given I was using it to fight him about 2 hours ago.

The way i take it down solo, is usually by using a flamelurker set up, you don't get invaded much in this area so its fine to use a strict pve set up. I wear old king set, +10 dragon flame shield, ring of fire resistance and a wooden catalyst for warding or water veil. If you are a strength type, it's uber easy just to use a light weapon buffed DBS+5, you wil beat it in no time, it always helps to summon ppl though ;)
My usual class is mage so I have minimal hp/str/dex etc which means 1 hit pretty much kills me, I equip kris knife, TOB and black armor, sometimes ring of fire resist sometimes not, usually thief ring just in case I need a quickish exit. Then I usually soul light him to death, dodging his attacks by backwards roll.
Not lost to him for a while now :o)
Not tried a str or faith build but I reckon PFS+10 & keel smasher +5 with ring of fire resist should be pretty much all you need - can Keel Smasher be enchanted??
Mephistopheles was right about you……………
PFS+10, DBS +5, and skill. Get a column between you and him and just roll away from his attacks and smack him only when you absolutely can. I killed him first try at SL 100 or so.
