I've asked this on about 3 different foums and no one knows why. What the hell is going on?

I'm having real problems creating the Dozer axe and Morion blade. I have both weapons reqired for each (A +8 shortsword and a +6 great axe) and a Storm and grey demons soul for each. Now when i talk to blacksmith Ed i have no option to create each of these upgrades. I've done the whole process of giving him the Demons soul to allow the upgrades, but still nothing. I've googled it and i'm totally out of luck.

Anyone else had the same problem / know how to fix it? I'm on the US version btw.

try another item? Hold onto the +8 shortsword, but +6 isnt hard to get try a battle or crescent axe, if it still doesnt give you the option, i have no idea what to tell you :(

Are you 100% certain that Blacksmith Ed has the Red Hot Demon's Souls (dropped by Flamelurker, boss of world 2-2)? If not, that is your answer. You won't have the option to do Demon Soul crafting without having killed Flamelurker, and then offered his soul to Ed.

A good test you could maybe do is to bring a broken sword +0 (which are pretty plentiful) along with you or even a Great Club +0 (from 2-1) to Blacksmith Ed and see if he gives you the option to turn the broken sword into the blueblood sword and the greatclub into the meat cleaver (assuming you've defeated Maiden Astrea for the broken sword test, and Abjudicator for the Great Club test), because if he does not give you those options, then I would say he needs the red hot demons soul from Flamelurker.

Someone else had a problem like this and I solved it by asking if they were on a NG+. You have to give another Red Hot Demon's Soul to Ed to be able to upgrade weapons with each playthrough.
Also, another random suggestion - do you have enough souls to pay for the upgrade? A bit patronising perhaps but it's the only other thing I can think of.

In answer to all your questions:

I have completely finished area 2 and beat the dragon god.
I have given Ed the red hot deoms souls and have upgraded other weapons with demons souls
I have about 200,000 souls in my pocket

I think i'm gonna try it with some other weapons later, or try again on another playthrough. Not the most convenient of options but i don't have many other choices :P

Sometimes, random glitches do happen. One of my characters recently lost all of her Priests and Magicians in the Nexus. I didn't kill them, and Yurt was already dead. I just logged in one day, and they were gone, along with Patches and the merchant in Stonefang. Another character wasn't able to open the cells above Legion in 3-1, even though she had the key and had rescued Rydyell. A third character was playing 1-3, and Ostrava was fighting above the main gate, but he never jumped down. He just kept fighting up there until he died.

If you've addressed every other possible cause, the only thing to do is consider it a glitch, go ahead and beat the remaining bosses, and start a new game.

I had the same problem with the keys for the rogues gear and that area. I rescued rydell got my dull rats ring. but it says that the gate is locked.

I am not sure if this will work out…. but felt telling it out…..

check out if you are wearing anything undesirable like….. minister's hat or the monks collar….
make sure you have enough space in your inventory as dozer axe is heavy…
make sure you bring along the demon soul you are exchanging ( strom & grey )

hey and also make sure ….. you have killed flame lurker in this run….. and you are not using his soul from the previous run…..
this could also be a possible issue…..

I think you're a victim of a glitch. save your souls and items and get Ed the red Hot soul quickly in NG+. All glitches appear to correct in NG+

Did you make sure that you actually have the required major demon's souls on your person? Unlike stones, you actually need to have the major demon's souls in your inventory.

I know that I once had this problem when doing an upgrade would overburden me. I don't know if this would be a problem with the Morion Blade, but could be with the Dozer Axe.

I went to get the Meat Cleaver and couldn't for the life of me figure out what was wrong. I had the Boss's Soul and souls to buy, but it was grayed out.

The other thing I found was that unlike the ores, you can't use any Boss Souls that you aren't carrying. I once stored mine with Stockpile Thomas because I was afraid I'd use them by accident when cashing in souls. I went to Ed and couldn't upgrade, so I had to take them from Thomas and go back.
