I agree. But, i slightly go towards the Dragon Bone Smasher +5.
Sticky compound long bow +5 :)
I would say North regalia or blueblood sword because of magic damage.
Pretty much what Zakkia said, but it should be mentioned that the blueblood is really good with a high luck, and northern regalia is best with Pure White/Black Character Tendency.
*sigh* so many people post things like this, there is no "Best weapon" in the game. It all depends on your playing style and what works for you. ANY build and ANY weapon can be countered by atleast one other thing.
PVE, i said PVE you muffin monster. PVE is hugely different than pvp, get your facts straight dude.
Okay it might be northern regalia but its damage aint that great later…..
I totally dig my +5 crescent uchigatana for all purpose pve. Good for PvP too, since I don't exactly see BPs carring the dark silver shield much. The magic is resisted in 4-2 and a few BPs. Have a spare weapon with conventional scaling and physical damage as a spare. Even a modest magic score of say 18-20 produces high damage.
I think best weapon style for pve is big swords like the claymore, etc. It combines multiple hits, long range, and decent damage. Blessed claymore+5 is a life saver when multiple enemies are attacking me at once
Amen to that, brother. Blessed claymore FTW. I also really enjoyed my dragon halberd in the early parts of the game. Mirdan or scythe would probably work just as well. It's relatively quick, has a great reach, nearly all the attack area is focused accuratley forward, it tears up monsters and invaders alike when in tight passages like in boletarian palace, tunnels in stonefang, cliffsides and staircases in the shrine, and just about anywhere in latria. Pole weapons in general clean up the game pretty quick.
Pole weapons get pretty weak later. I was using my blessed Mirdan hammer+5 with 66 faith, and it did not do nearly as much damage as my BGA+5, Blessed Claymore, and Northern Regalia
I would say a spear and shield for melee, but in terms of best PVE weapon overall, the Lava Bow is the best. The combination of the great staggering from the fire damage, especially using hyper mode, makes it absolutely great. Not to mention, tons of enemies and bosses are weak to fire. Its also perfect for killing geckos, as every single shot flips them on the their back (even of they are on their back already), and you can just keep them pinned.
I would agree with CthulhuChile because you do great physical close range damage that can be backed up by magic, add a 2nd in your left hand and you have the ultimate PvP dual sword weapons
