I am on ng and decided to try out a dragon weapon. I would really like to get the chunks of dragonstone in the lava it located at the bottom of the tunnels. How do I get these without getting toasted? Tell me what the best way is and what i'll need or if this is nearly impossible with my low fire resistance and vitality. Thank you for the help.

Water veil, ring of flame resistance, some fire-resistant armor that you can still run fast in (ancient king's is absolute best if you're male, I used binded cross for a female), and a flame-resistant shield (I used Purple Flame Shield). Believe it or not if you L1 guard with your shield while walking through the lava, the damage you receive goes way down. Bring a bunch of healing items too, and use the islands to stop and heal up. Needless to say look for the glow of the treasure so you know where you're going and cut the shortest path from the nearest island. Unfortunately you have to let your guard down to pick up the items, and then your life will start dropping, so be ready to get the shield back up/sprint/use grass. There's two pairs of chunks and a pure, so three targets in all. Good luck!

Ok now I know what to do…do you think that i'm able to survive with 650 Hp, Flame resistance ring, Water Veil and Fire Resistence 115 ?

Also try to kill bugs first, they are really annoying if they interrupt you from healing/dying.

Yes for that no problem…with Soul Ray they are easy to kill :)
Now I can finally upgrade my Short Dragon Sword on maximum level, i was just missing a chunk of Dragonstone

As stupid as it sounds … you can roll through lava and take almost no damage this way as you navigate. Which doesn't make a lot of sense since you can't even roll through the stupid swamp even while standing on some mud that sticks out.

It sucks that you can't roll in 5-2, Does the PFS's fire resistance go up when it is upgraded?

No, it will always be 90%. its damage as a weapon and hit/res go up.
