Transcribe the NPC dialog

I would like feedback from other wiki editors on the idea of capturing the dialog from the NPCs in the game.

It seems like it would be a great addition to the site, since it isn't captured anywhere else I can find. There is a lot of backstory and flavor which is only conveyed in the words of the characters. There are especially a lot of conditional or changing dialog options which unlock later in the game or only after some events happen, (Patches, after Yurt is released, or about world 5 heros' loot), etc. Many players not interested in the RPG aspects don't bother to Talk to the characters, so it's often missed.

Would anyone be likely to oppose this? It does _feel_ to me more likely to be considered a copyright concern, but I have no legal expertise so I'm not sure where that feeling comes from.

Opinions?

I like the idea. :)

On a very small scale, I did that here (click on the "Dialogue" collapsible link at the bottom) with Wannabe Allant's dialogue. It would be handy to have the dialogue for the entire game, but it would take a lot of time.

I am OK with this, but do me a couple of favors

1. Go to the sandbox, lay out your template or whatever and let me and Ojimaru review it
2. Once you do that create a template out of your layout (if it will let you) so that when people want to start a page they can select that template and we can have consistency
3. I don't know that I want this on the same page as the NPC character screen we have now. I am just not sure how best to implement it. Number 1 should give me a better idea regarding that issue. Collapsible block might work, but I want to see the design first.

I missed out on Ostrava's stuff in my NG (I saved him in 1-1 enough to get the brass telescope, but evidently not well enough for him to ever appear again) so I went looking for his dialogue on the web, somebody has claimed to transcribe the whole thing: Ostrava dialogue.

Googling finds a few more by the same person: Garl and Astraea Once Royal Mistress Filthy Woman. Can't vouch for accuracy, but there it is!

Perhaps if someone verifies the accuracy of those it would save us the time and effort of creating our own transcriptions, at least for those NPCs/Bosses.

Great find. They are correct for all I recognize and can verify. I will contact him and see if we can use them with credit.

In the mean time, my PS3 is YLOD (again) :((.

There are several different dialogue paths for some of the characters. You'd almost have to get a list from From Software to make sure you got all of them.

For example, Patches and Yuria will warn you about Yurt, but only if you talk to them at certain points. if you rescue Biorr, and then go talk to him in the Nexus before you rescue Yuria, he'll mention her. Then, when you do rescue Yuria, he'll praise you for it, assuming that he's still alive. If you tell the Monumental "No" after completing 1-1, she'll make several different comments, both initially and later on. She says something to the effect of "You must hate me, but I'm doing the only thing that will hold the world together" (I'm paraphrasing), but I don't remember her saying that in the games in which I said "Yes" and accepted the mission.

One funny note, when Ostrava is in the Nexus, he mentions that Biorr (and others) disappeared, never to be seen again. He says that while Biorr is sitting in front of the Valley archstone, in plain view of Ostrava. lol

I would help with this. While I don't know of all the conditions and triggers required, a remember I great deal of the dialogue I've seen since I got Demon's Souls, most of it work-for-word. This is something I would really like to see. The backstory and its hidden meanings are so cool ^_^

Hey guys. Unfortunately, my Demon's Souls memory was corrupted. *Chokes back a sob* Well, since I'm starting a new game, I got started on the dialogue. The beginnings of Crestfallen Warrior is on his wiki page. I wasn't sure what format to use, but later I'll take a closer look and try to fix it up some. Right now I'm too depressed…

Got Yuria in her prison/ tower. Again, if anybody has a better idea about how to format the dialogue, feel free to make changes. Everything I have put up in terms of the actual dialogue, though, is word-for-word, so I wouldn't change that.

I've just started NG++. If there are any specific NPCs you need dialogue for, I can record and transcribe it. Especially in regards to what StephanieTN mentioned about dialogue paths.
