Im the new player, just for clarification.
So I recently got my black eye stone, after hearing some unpleasant stories from one of my friends who has tried invading I figured I'd attempt it to get a feel for what he was talking about.
For my first invasion I attempted to get into 2-2, I felt like I knew the area pretty well so I wouldnt have any terrain disadvantages. It put me a ways behind the host, I was at the top of the gigantic pit with all of the wooden bridges and the host was at the bottom. I methodically dropped down until I got to the bottom, at which point I ended up dropping one level below the host. He attempted to barrage me with soul arrow (I think) so I ran out of the room in an attempt to lure him out. To make this short story even shorter I'll just say that the fight consisted of him holding his shield up the entire time while he blasted me with fireballs until one lucky fireball managed to stagger me - which left me open for subsequent spells.
I don't think I need to directly say how the battle ended, but you get the idea.
What I want to know from the community is this:
Is all pvp this way? I was interested in this game because it had a unique multiplayer aspect and it was notorious for being difficult, I assumed to encounter players who also relished in the difficulty. I did not expect to encounter players who spam one attack on auto-aim until they land a lucky hit.
If this is all this game has to offer I fear that I have wasted my money.
