We all know them. Let's face it, Giant Goblins are a problem. They are bad for the environment, annoying, and run faster than Usain Bolt. We must create a movement against these evil creatures. What kind of world would we leave our children if we don't do something now? A bad one. WE MUST DO SOMETHING TODAY.
The Giant Goblins are incredibly easy, but ok.
No, not really. Even against Tank builds, they can do incredible damage.
Evilchicken, I am with you! I was fighting one as a Spellsword today…damn things nearly killed me with one hit. So I backed up and Soul Ray'ed them to death ^_^ When you do that, they're easy. Just be careful in NG+ and on, because by then they can open a huge can of whoopass.

Ask my anything. About Magic, that is.
They're easy for magic users, not so much for melee. I take em out in 3 hits with Soul Ray and one with Firestorm, and you just have to divide and conquer against groups. But meleeing em could prove hard…
Quoted for truth. I've never once been killed by the Giant Goblins as a Mage. Soul Ray and Firestorm work wonders on them. Groups can be problematic, but if you lure them out one by one they are not much of a problem. They are fast suckers though.
I think the best way to kill them is with a bow(lava or +5 sticky) and the clever rats ring and/or the morion blade. if you let the poison on 5-2 take you down to <30% you'll do stupid amounts of dmg. You should be able to kill them in a few shots.
Just hit up 3-1 for the ring, you dont even have to beat the boss.
that's incredibly risky though
you'd need a high degree of maneuverability and Valley of Defilement is not exactly known for its wide open spaces (well you have the swamp, but good luck running around or rolling there)
High degree of maneuverability? In my experience, if you run from the goblins in a straight line (even in the swamp) they will never hit you. When they catch you, they momentarily stop to attack. That allows you to escape.
You can take them out with maybe 3-4 shots making it possible to remain stationary. That's just my opinion.
i'd suggest confronting each one by itself drawing it out with some magic, and use the strategy you used to beat the vanguard, because the goblin has the same moveset with a little bit more speed
I usually kill them using Soul Ray to take out most of their Hp, then I slash them with a strong hit with the sword…since now they dropped just one Stone of Ephemeral Eye ;_;
Now I have the Large Sword of Searching, I hope to find more Stones so I can suicide 7 times per world to get PBWT in each world.
About this, I have a question….I red that in the Valley of Defilment the Giant Goblins BP drop more Stones of Ephemeral Eye, so if I suicide 7 times in this dungeon I'll get PBWT and will be able to meet this enemy…do they always drop a Stone when killed ?
best place to farm for the souls is 5-3 because the plague babies constantly drop them
The vanguard seems to telegraph all of his attacks giving you ample time to position yourself in an ideal spot. idk if i can say the same about the giant goblins to be real…..
Actually he does telegraph his attacks, you'll notice that he puts his weapon up, at this moment you're going to need to stop attacking him, and start shifting behind him, and a roll or 2 to the left or right doesn't hurt much
sooooooooooooo true… i remember the first time i went into 5-2, i was using shield and sword (dont laugh SL 35 first playthrough)
so i didnt roll at all against small guys, i get to giant goblin, im spamming circle faster than a pro Street Fighter player, screaming my head off, while my character does a failed jumping jack, and gets 1 hit KOed on the head with a 10 foot club with spikes…
The big crackheads do pose a threat, especially if you let the swamp get the best of you. While soul rays are definitely easiest, I've found that I can take them out with pure melee. If you try to keep the fight on dry land, you can run circles around them. Dodge rolling avoids their attacks ok, but sprinting away gives the best guarentee. If you have to fight in the swamp, it slows you down a lot, but you can still outmaneuver the big guys. You can usually draw them out one by one. Grab one's attention, and wait for him to charge. When he gets close, break your lock-on of him, and sprint away. It cuts it kinda close, but you should get away unharmed. After his combo, he pauses for a while. Take a few slashes at him (dragon, blessed, moon, crescent helps a bunch), then sprint away again. DO NOT try to dodge roll. All you'll do is immobilize yourself, begging to be bashed. I was able to take out the entire island of big goons that guard all those stones of eph eyes at with this method, Lvl 20, blessed claymore +2.
first playthrough only…………….so about 16% easier than a giant goblin for someone in NG++, where a lot of people are at around soul level.
trust me, they give a hell of a lot of damage in your 2nd playthrough, if you're vitality is 20 and you have second chance, you're gonna have to kiss it goodbye because
these bad boys take it out with one hit, and everyone slips up once or twice….
If you actually think they are hard then you either are bad at this game or you are clearly doing something wrong because they are pretty easy.
tried taking on the BP Giant Goblins in PBWT?
they're considered to be some of the toughest enemies in this game and Demon's Souls is renowned for its difficulty
how do you normally take them down?
I spam the roll hit with an axe, so basically i'm rolling and doing massive amounts of damage at the same time :)
haha, i'd love to be able to backstab one to death (the BPs)
it will happen, mark my words!
I suicided 7 times in Valley of Defilements and obtained PBWT…I collected many Stones of Ephemeral Eye from Giant Goblins BP, and they are really hard to defeat…usually I shoot at one Goblin with Soul Ray and run away, so I can kill him alone…one hit from his weapon and my Hp goes down a lot…I want to try with Poison Cloud, it can really help
poison cloud won't work, it takes too much time and isn't worth it. On the other hand, a fire=based spell would work wonders so thats good news for magic users. melee players get the shaft with weaksauce turpentine and dragon weapons :(
Ok I'll try with Fire Spray or Flame Toss, maybe they can help…anyway, Giant Goblins are the toughest enemies of the game, especially due to the battle ground :|
Its pretty simple, their attacks are vairly slow and are easily avoidable if you roll, and after rolling you should be able to get atleast 3 hits with a fast weapons, If you are having trouble killing them with melee then you are most likely from what i've seen using heavy armor which affects your rolls (dont know why anyone would use heavy armor but alright) magic users probably would have to kite the enemies and cast spells when they can, in 5-1 if you are having trouble, kite the goblins back to the room with the rats and go all the way back up, the goblins wont be able to climb up to you and will just run into the wall, you can easily kill them like that, and in 5-2 you can either sneak around them with the Theif's Ring or just kite them again, but do not fight them in the swamp unless you are looking to get killed.
The problem is you don't have the leisure of rolling everywhere until you dodge the hit because you'll get stuck in that muck and lose a lot of health. In 5-2, why would you recommend not killing them, they're really hard but its s much more time consuming to go around, and going around might lead you to the scary-ass Meat Cleaver chick of scariness
I've found an easy way to collect Stones of Ephemeral Eye without getting killed by those Giant Goblin BP…just go to Dirty Colossus Archstone and walk back in direction of Poison Marsh…kill the small goblin you find on the way and as you see the first Giant Goblin BP on the right, shoot him with spell or a bow, then turn yourself of 180° and run in direction of the two steps in the area.
The Giant Goblin will run after you…just walk on the steps so that the Goblin won't be able to hit you and keep your distance from his club…just shoot him untill he dies, then turn back to Nexus and repeat the strategy
In this way I've been able to collect many stones without getting hit a single time ^^
Killzone, it takes literally 10 seconds to walk around them, and that poison does absolutely nothing, and even if you do catch it you should have several lotus to cure it, and that meat cleaver chick is easy, you just must be bad at this game.
