I Beat Flamelurker with no gimmicks whatsoever

it's totally possible guys
I toe-to-toed him in NG+ with no blocking, no dodging/rolling, and no kiting

I had the Mirdan armor set, ring of flame resistance, eternal warrior, adju shield +5 in the off-hand, a Halberd +10, and Water Veil
just healed whenever my HP went below 50%
you can add sticky white stuff or use cursed weapon to the shorten the battle, but its really not necessary

what I did was just strafed to his rear whenever he came close, what for him to do his flame thing (it can't knock you down if you're really close to his rear and with the flame resistance it's no longer that damaging) and attacked straight after
simple, it worked - finished the battle in less than 2 minutes

I was SL 122 at the time

I need someone to help me at flamelurker on first playthrough, its just so annoying how it goes berserk and doesn't let you heal when you try to run away sl is so low(sl 20) i started with barbarian and this is BS

The barbarian is super tough to win with until he levels up. Try stealing the Purple Flame shield from the dragons in 1-1 at least. without a bow or better yet a spell forget it. At least grab the bow and catalyst from the tower in 1-2 and buy soul ray. The wiki has a lot of good tips on flamelurker

I took him out solo with a +4 battle axe, 2 handed, and used the 2 sticky white stuffs that are found behind the cart at the entrance to stonefang tunnel. He's resistant to normal weapons, so magic of some kind is your best bet. I was a lvl 25 temple knight with base magic and dex, so ranged approaches werent an option. Just doge roll backwards if you can to try and avoid his fireballs. His most vulnerable point is right after he does his roaring high jump move. It almost always misses if you roll, and he pauses for about 2 seconds afterwards. I just wailed on him with sticky white stuff on my axe. I almost killed him before the first sticky wore off.

What do you mean by no gimmicks? A lot of people have defeated this boss without buffs, and whatnot. If by gimmick, you mean spells or armor that make you more

resistant, then you have not beat him WITHOUT gimmicks. You are using water veil and ring of flame resistance, which by your own definition means that you beat him

WITH gimmicks…….

I think that by gimmicks he means like exploiting flamelurker's awful pathfinding skills, hiding in secret crannies behind the bones and sniping, that kind of stuff.

and note, I didn't have to roll once during the fight, I was pretty much closing in and chasing him down the entire time to finish the battle asap
it was just straight up melee

and sorry, I guess my OP was a bit confusing (will edit to clarify things) - Davidscott got what I meant though
I just got sick of maneuvering around him so much just to stay out of harms way and get a shot in

I think it was pretty clear, I had the same understanding with you regarding gimmicks. Well the way I understand it is no exploit with poison cloud etc…or use that pile of bones to trap him and soul arrow him to death or something. Straightforward melee/magic.

How long you going to be on tonight? I know it's late, but I plan to play around 1AM PST. I can, however, help you beat him. If you can't wait nor can find anyone to help, here's a tip as to the gimmick I believe the TC was referring to. When you enter the arena, run against the left wall until you reach what seems to be a ribcage sticking out from the ground. This will provide cover for you as you can stay inside and hit him with ranged spells or arrows through the bones. If he managed to get in, run around to the other side, effectively trapping him in the bones. If he escapes, just go back in, rinse, wash, and repeat until he's dead. If you prefer melee, you can enchant your weapon with a spell or sticky white stuff (don't use turpentine as he obviously resists fire). Then employ a hit and run strategy retreating to the ribcage between hits. However, melee is still risky as you give him more opportunity to hit you. Also, if you have them, equip the ring of flame resistance and the purple flame shield. Water veil is also useful if you have it at your disposal. Good luck!

Thx for the tips. I have brushwood shield which i heard is better and i have the ring. I'm on on west coast of u.s. and i plan to play to like 9:30 or so. Like i said, my username is POP-TACO. Add me and if you want to help me lay down the blue soul sign right before the giant pit that you take the right path to. P.S. Do you have to be in body form to see the soul signs?

Well, I won't be on until late tonight, but I'll add you either way. I forgot to mention something very important on the thread in your user page: If you beat a boss while you are a blue phantom, it does not count toward your boss kill. Therefore, you'll have to be in body form and summon me if you want to beat him on your playthrough. Also, yes you have to be in body form to see soul signs. While in body form, keep in mind you can also be invaded.
