I invaded a chick yesterday, and it looked as though she was wearing the same flattened metal sombrero that the shield using pikemen enemies wear. I could be crazy, but somehow she was able to get past the first narrow hallway in 1-3 without fighting any soldiers. The soldiers didn't appear to be aggressive towards her. Is this a rare drop from those guys that disguises you like the minister's cap does? Also, does the cap work for any fat minister? Why is this tin sombrero not on the headgear list for the wiki?

wow, this is the first I've heard of such a situation
sounds almost too good to be true (and would make Boletarian Palace far too easy!)

Sounds to me like you've described the female version of the plate helmet. Armor can look different in the male vs female versions. I had a female solider and "tin sombrero" is a pretty good description of her starting gear. I suspect that wasn't the reason the enemies weren't attacking her.

Ah. That could be it. I just happened to invade a sheisty lady wearing regular plate armor. It's funny because I think the male version of plate helm looks goofy and feminine. The pikemen wear something that looks like the female version. idk. Thanks for the clarification

That's it.

Except for the Gloom and Brushwood sets (the only true unisex sets), all of the complete armor sets that are available to both sexes have variations between the male and female versions. A while back, I suggested that we post images of each version on the page for each piece of armor, but that would be a major project.

The Fluted (Knight's) Helmet is an obvious example. The male version that appears on the cover of the DS game case and in the intro scene looks nothing like the female version, which doesn't cover the wearer's face. Also, the Black Leather (Thief's) body armor for each sex is very different.

The male version of the Mirdan set (Temple Knight) looks rather dull, but the female version is brightly polished, and I think it's the most beautiful armor in the game.

The easiest way to see this variation is to look at the Knight's class page (http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/knight). The game case has the male fluted armor, while that's the female version.
