I know theres a pattern to do it, but im too lazy, by this point you shouldbe unlocked 4-2 atleast, go to graverobber blige, get LIGHT arrows, they fly farther, just far enough to get past dragon's breath and and hit him. (Im talking about on the steps, shooting him the first time you can use regular arrow)
but 2nd time on the steps, (with Biorr helpin u if u saved him) light arrow FTW
Any type of arrow can hit him from the steps- I usually use Heavy.
Also there's not really much of a pattern to deal with, just when his breath is on the opposite side from you (and starting to disappear) fucking run. Always use Water Veil to be safe and it's EASY MODE.
For the snark was a boojum, you see…
Bior died my first time (didn't know he could be killed)
really struggled to get past the blue dragon then, since he was gunning for no one but me
had to use second chance to finally get past him
once your at the entrance, aim for his chin with lock-on and just spam R1 till he dies
tbh I'm kinda disappointed with how we had to fight the 2 dragons in this game - they're the 2 most epic bosses in the game yet the only efficient way to kill them is with a bow…
they should really allow us a proper melee battle with at least one of them
the pattern is actually like this. When you are on the steps looking at him, he will breathe fire in 2 areas. One blast is a far reaching one, and the other is a short reaching one. He will alternate between the 2. Both fire breaths' hit area start at the further end of his reach and move up the stairs toward him. It is pretty obviously visually to see which one he is using.
so, you want to run before he finishes the short range breath. Specifically, this means beginning your run almost right after you see the flames hit the stairs, and chasing the hit area of the flames as they draw up the stairs. You don't have to worry about running into the flames if you do this right, they move faster than your character (even while sprinting). This way, by the time he alternates to his long reaching breath, you are far enough up the stairs that he will no longer hit you.
Once you get under him, he will switch to a close range sweep of the ground under him exclusively. so either run straight for the door into the castle, or get next to the wall behind the first set of statues on either side of the door to lose his aggro. At that point, you can shift slightly outward from behind the statues and lock on to his chin. now you can use either spells or arrows to kill him.

It will show you how to defeat him… even if you're a bow user, just skip the first part and go to the point where the player RUN below the dragon.
Notice the pattern of the dragon (he breath fire from your left to your right… and WHEN he starts to breath from your right to your left, RUN !!!)
