Should I get soulsucked?

Summary:

I wish to PvP but i fear my character is destroyed stat-wise.

Should I get soulsucked?

Good afternoon.

I started DS as a thief and through some friend's advice I did the usual trip to 22 STR for Purple Flame Shield and 30 DEX for sticky coumpound long bow +5 as +30 will give you diminishing returns on your damage. Soon after having troubles in 2-2 with the lack of magic to kill those Bearbugs I turned my Winged Spear into a Moon Winged Spear +5 and my playstyle consisted of meleeing with a magic weapon and ocasionally using Soul Arrow (Soul Ray wasn't ideal for a 200 MP pool) or my Sticky+5 to take out enemies at a distance. Now I see that i'm level 133 having everything (not CDS upgraded though) except the Monk's Collar that I can't seem to get as players leave in the end.. I'm currently on NG++

I started as a thief and my stats are as follow:

Gender: Male
Class: Thief

Vitality: 10
Intelligence: 30 (200 MP for double Firestorm)
Endurance: 18
Strength: 22
Dexterity: 30
Magic: 70 (I clearly forgot about the diminishing returns on this one)
Faith: 18
Luck: 13

1st question - Seeing that I started as a thief with already 9 points allocated should I start over as a Royal?

2nd question - Should I get soulsucked to SLV 120 (or entirely to 1!) as it seems to be the most famous PvP level or anything in the range of 115-135 is fine?

3rd question - Where should i allocate my points for a proper PvP spec keeping in mind my taste for meleeing with an Uchigatana?

Sl 120 is the general PvP level, so if you anywhere from SL 98 - SL 142, you'll be able to play them. They may not like it if you're too high level though.

Soulsucking…it really depends. I would do that, since wit the Soulsuck glitch you can have a brand new base-stats character, but with as many souls as you could need and all the equipment. It's a lot faster than starting over entirely.

Although…Thief isn't really an ideal class for a PvP build. Most have to start with either Royal, Temple Knight or Knight since they have the lowest Luck (7). Since you'r going fore a Magic build, if you're really interested in PvP, I would start over as a Royal and just have a friend help you out with equipment and such if you need it.

Is there any way I can get my gear on my new char? Say if I drop it on the floor, my friend passes it over to me and somehow he gives it to me. I think that requires us to meet at some soul level point though…

It's possible, but it will probably take more than one friend.

People can multiplayer together if they are within 10 + (Host's SL/10) levels of each other. So, if you were SL 1 as a Royal, you could only summon people 11 levels above you, or SL 12. You could level up some and then your friend could trade with you, maybe, or your friend gives the stuff to a lower-level friend, who gives it to a lower-level friend, until somebody who's SL 12 or under has the stuff.

It would be easier if you leveled up a bit, but you you get what I mean?

Is this possible?

Me and my friend have the same level.

I join his game and soulsuck him to level 1 and drop every item.

I leave.

I go on my level 1 and join his game. Pick everything up that i need and he unplugs his ethernet cable. Wont he remain with his initial level?

Hmm…you know what, that might work! But I'm not sure. As far as I know, the game doesn't register a change in Soul Level until the host ends the session, so if you tried to join him as SL 1 the game might still be thinking of him as SL 130, or whatever level he was before you soulsucked him.

The problem isn't him keeping his level. As long as he quits the game without autosaving, such as pulling the cable, he should keep his SL. The problem is I don't know when the requirements update, exactly, so he game may think you're trying to join a SL 130-or-whatever character at SL 1. He won't see your Blue Soul Sign.

It's worth a shot, I guess. But soulsucking that low takes a while…maybe you should wait for somebody on the forum who can tell you for sure.

But I would have to still complete the game a couple of times on the new character to get the necessary spells and miracles I guess… It doesn't sound really worth it seeing as i have everything on this char. Is the difference between starting as a thief and royal that big? I read something about the False King being able to soulsuck even the initial 80 stats minus the vitality one. But I guess that would be unethical towards the PvP community. What i see as the best shot is really downgrade my character to soul level 10ish. Having my friend make a new char and go with that i guess.

Nah, it's not too much of a difference…but people who started as one of the classes I mentioned earlier will have 8 more points to use than you. Not bad, but if you ever do try a new build, make sure it has low Luck.

My advice would be just get Soulsucked down to base stats and Soulsuck your friend. If he pulls the cord or something like that, he will keep his SL while you get to keep all the Souls you sucked out of him. It makes re-rolling your build incredibly easy. But remember…have Ring of Magical Nature equipped. Once Intelligence drops too low, neither of you will be able to use Soulsucker, so get as much as you can out of it while you have 100 MP and 3 Spell Slots. The Ring will give you an additional Spell Slot.

False King can only suck you down to base stats ^_^ And there is no possible way to decrease your Vitality. And don't worry about upsetting the PvP'ers. You'll need at least a little of every stat for a successful PvP build.
