Just need a Pure Darkmoonstone (which I missed this time round) and a Pure Cloudstone. I read that you can get the Pure Cloudstone from the Flying Mantas in 4-1, albeit very rare. Has anyone managed to get one from here? If it really is that rare, then I'll just grab it in NG with the Darkmoonstone.

I've killed… a lot of these things…. and I have yet to see a pure drop. But my luck has never been that high (although people argue about whether luck improves simple drop rate or rarity). I assume you already used the one you got in 4-3?

My Luck is at 30, and I'm certain it just increases the chance of something dropping, not the rarity (although, I did get a Pure Bladestone the 4th time I tried farming for it). I'm in Pure Black World Tendency and I'm using the Sword of Searching.

You need 2 Pure Cloudstones if you want to get the Purple Flame Shield up to Dark+5, and I've got one already.

It's weird how it says "4-1" and not "4-x", which makes me think it's so rare that it just so happened that one person found it on 4-1 (depsite the possibility of getting it on any World 4 level)… I don't know.

Probably a million times easier to just get it after beating World 4 on NG. I was just trying to clean up as many trophies as I could before ploughing through NG and NG+.

The biggest problem I have had with them is being able to actually get to the drops after farming the Manta's. More often than not, the drops are either on top of rocks I can't get to or they are basically over air behind rocks I can't get behind.

And to FatMaserati, I wouldn't waste your Cloudstones on PFS as it is a better shield at +10. If you are just after the Achievement, the buckler or Soldiers shield are cheaper to upgrade with Cloudstone. Both require 20 shards/splinters, 7 Chunks and 1 Pure.

Yeah, fair enough about the PFS+10 being better. I was persisting with upgrading it because I started upgrading it before I knew much about this game, but will Meltstone it down, get some Hardstones happening (I have 2 Pure Hardstones, so it's all easy stuff to get) and will just upgrade a Buckler for the trophy.

I actually did the same with my first character. Once I actually looked at it I realized the difference and went out and upgraded my other PFS to +10 right away and put the dark one back in storage forever.

Question: Are the mantas in the boss' area bad for farming? There are tons of them, and their drops are easy to get to, but so far all I'm getting is shards in pure Black, sword of searching or no.

Anyone ever get chunks / pure stones off these guys?

If you start from 4-3 and go and kill the 16 mantas, you will get chunks of cloudstone, i got enough from about 10/11 runs in PWWT without sword of searching and luck at 7.

I actually got 1 pure cloudstone off a manta in 4-3 while trying to farm chunks, which the game did not want to drop for me at all.
So it is possible, but, that was 1 in well over 1000 at PBWT with LSoS and 34 luck.

lol, luck stat does increase drop rate, however it increases it for ALL drops, which means more of the petty and bad drops, so low luck is better than high luck if u want better item drops. Anyway, I've gotten a pure cloudstone from manta in 4-3, but that took ages and its a very very rare drop, but a manta in 4-1 dropping a pure cloudstone? That would take a very long time unless luck is on ur side(which a lot of the time is not).
