Personally I find the information on Primeval Demons to be sort of confusing. For example, I got world 1 to pure black tendency, killed Miralda in 1-1, fought through 1-2, and then found a Primeval Demon waiting for me in 1-3. According to the wiki, black phantom Miralda only appears in pure black, while the Primeval Demon appears one level lighter than pure black. I read this to mean that the Demon ONLY appears one level lighter and not on pure black, but does it mean that the Demon appears on one level lighter than pure black as well as pure black? Or is the information wrong?

Anyone else confused? Or am I just stupid?

It is just you.
Nowhere does it state that Primeval Demons ONLY appear 1 step away from PBWT.

"NOTE: Confirmed that this Primeval Demon shows up one world tendency LIGHTER than Pure Black… NOT Pure Black."

All that states is that it will appear 1 WT lighter than Pure black. If you look, all but world 5 state that they appear at 1 WT lighter than PB. But nowhere does it state that they only appear 1 WT lighter and at no other.

That "NOT Pure Black" is there because, and I am just making a guess here, at one point it was assumed that they only appeared at PBWT. The testing done by players has confirmed that this isn't the case. thus they made a clarification stating that they will appear 1 WT lighter.

But it doesn't matter. Unless you wish to waste Eyes, you want it at PB so that you can kill the BP and the Primeval without returning to the Nexus, because as soon as you return after killing one or the other you won't be able to access the one you didn't kill yet and thus have to adjust your WT again.
Once you kill the BP's though, there is no reason to go back to PBWT, unless you just like to kill them, so you don't actually have to get all the way to PBWT to gain access to the Primeval Demons for the Colorless.

I dunno if u took this into account but when u kill a bp ur tendency goes lighter. That could be why.

Miralda's death increases your world tendency by 3, so it would mean the Primeval demon wouldn't appear. This only matters if you go back to The Nexus, however; I just ran through the whole of world 1 without going back to The Nexus. :)

Synalon, what it means is that the Primeval demon APPEARS from one tendency level higher than Pure Black, and that it is still there on Pure Black. Basically the reason a big deal is made out of the fact that it appears before pure black is to save people from using extra SoEEs when it would be okay to go primeval demon hunting without killing yourself an extra time.

Hopefully that makes sense.
