When ore farming, you never get what you want, you always get a different from of what was needed
Example:
Spent 5 hours trying to get pure darkmoonstone, all i got was chunks
Vice versa in a different score

Am i the only one with this bad luck?

A lot of the places that the Wiki says you can get chunks or pures from only drop Pures in PBWT. It's really a crapshoot what will drop - Pures have a much lower drop rate than shards or chunks. You are not alone, everyone playing this game has to deal with this. This is exactly why people trade or dupe ores - to avoid having to farm for hours trying to get what they need. Personally, I'd much rather PLAY the game than spend all my gaming time farming.

There is no Crystal Lizard that only drops pure stones in PBWT - the darker World Tendency just increases the chances.

I've got pure darkmoonstone a number of times from the Lizard in 4-2 near the white bow on PWWT, let alone Pure Black.

I'd also advise against duping, not only are dupers somewhat frowned upon - it has a very high chance of corrupting your save data.

Complete and utter BS. There is absolutely ZERO chance of corrupting your save data if you dupe properly. The game is not writing data to the save file when you quit the game while your inventory is open. There is absolutely no evidence that ANYONE has had their save data corrupted from duping. Zero. People who have corrupted their save data got it corrupted by quitting the game after dying so they don't have to start a level over. When they quit, THE GAME WAS ACTIVELY SAVING TO THE SAVE FILE. That is why their save got corrupted, not because they were duping. Please stop posting misinformation that is not based on any factual evidence whatsoever.

Honestly, why do you feel the need to post in every thread where someone mentions duping and say that it's "frowned upon"? Everyone is entitled to play the game how they choose to play it.

Two people on this site who are Moderators have both lost their save data before due to duping correctly.
I watched the same thing happen to my younger brother, who duped correctly a number of times before it randomly happened and he has never quit after dying (I don't think he's even aware that would change anything, and he can only play PS3 in the same room as me so I was able to watch what he did step by step).
I posted a sensible response to a question and gave a reasonable warning to the TC that there is a chance of ruining his save data based upon my personal experience.

Also, I do not post in "Every topic" to tell people that duping is frowned upon. I post in whatever topics I have time to post in where someone has an honest query and desires an honest answer.

For the record, your rudeness and aggressive attitude is not helpful to the TC or to myself, and has been noted.

First off, TWO people out of probably tens of thousands of players is not "a very high chance". In fact, it's the opposite - it's very unlikely that it will happen.

Secondly, there are at least two other instances where you posted in a topic where someone mentioned duping or asking for weapons and your responses were, put simply, not helpful or contributing to the thread.

How's that any different than duping ores?

So you personally know tens of thousands of players who have successfully duped? If you do, feel free to invite them all to come here and post and tell me that there is no chance of your save data being corrupted.
You explicitly stated that there was no chance of it happening from correct duping. I proved you wrong and gave a decent response to the question.
You're now off topic and forcing me to waste time replying to you.

Now, time for some basic maths (or math, depending on your education system.).
Look at how many topics there are. Compare that to the number of topics I have posted anything like an anti-duping comment in.
I think you might find, with some luck, that it doesn't come even close to me posting in 'every topic'. Yet again you're wrong.

And you accuse me of posting misinformation? This is almost laughable.

Finally, I suggested both a legitimate (as in not using any methods the developers did not intend) method of obtaining the CDS, as well as a method that I consider illegitimate. Not once did I say 'Use this it's faster and better', nor did I say that it is the method that I personally use. I understand perfectly the stance that some people have, such as Nick who has posted just below this, which is that duping is a good way to shorten the process of obtaining items. This is why I suggested it as a method that the TC of that topic could have chosen to use, and it is also why that had you not suggested duping to Nintendoblivion as a method of getting what they need I would have suggested it. All I did was qualify what you said and put in a little recommendation not to rely on duping because it has risks, something you neglected to mention and originally, when I suggested the risk aspect, called 'Complete and utter BS'.

Ironically, the poster I was referring to in http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/forum/t-229961/soldier-s-trophy IS my younger brother, who although I was just teasing him in the topic did end up corrupting his data trying to get the trophies by duping.

You're right, I apologize. I overreacted because you have taken a strong stance against duping (in two different threads), implying that people who do so are not respectable and that it is "frowned upon". I took offense to that because while you may not like duping, there are certainly legitimate uses for in this game (e.g., obtaining ores).

While it is true that there is a SMALL chance of your save being corrupted if you dupe, I maintain that this is a SMALL chance. It is a known fact that save corruption can occur when you disconnect or quit the game when the game is in the process of saving. When duping items from one player to another, if you do it correctly, the game is not saving when you quit via the PS menu while your inventory is open. I know plenty of people on other boards who dupe regularly and have never heard of one of them having their game save corrupted. Anecdotal evidence, yes. But evidence nonetheless. In fact, I know one person who made a SL 15 "Mule" to allow people to try out new builds and level up quickly for PvP. He has duped to probably 50-100 people (based on requests in his thread) and never corrupted his save file.

I'm not sure what your friends and brother did when they were duping to corrupt their save files. However, if you wait too long after dropping an item, there is a chance the game will "autosave" as it does every 30 seconds or so when in game. If you are careful to not quit when there is a blue symbol flashing in the upper right hand corner of the screen (indicating the game is actively saving), there is a VERY low chance that your save will get corrupted..

BTW, there is a much greater chance of save file corruption by trying to pick up an item while the game is trying to load another screen (i.e., when farming for CDSs using the primeval demon or Crow method). In this case, the game is trying to save that you picked up the item and/or killed the primeval demon, but at the same time it's trying to load another world. If that's what your brother was doing when his save got corrupted I would certainly understand that.

Again, I apologize if my original post was aggresive and rude. You don't like duping - that's fine and I respect your opinion on the matter. However, it is my opinion that you should respect the fact that there are legitimate uses of duping in the game and that some people choose to use duping rather than spending all their gaming time farming for ores.

Apology accepted, and no worries. Spirited debate is the whole point of forums, or so I've always thought.
And you're right, the chance is low provided you never disconnect or switch off your console while the game is saving, but it's still a risk factor especially if the person in question hasn't done it often.

Also, I know the person you're speaking of and I've personally had him supply me with items before, perhaps that should be taken as proof that my stance isn't entirely aggressively anti-duping - I purely advise against doing it often or without caution.

Logically the crow or primeval demon method would be more risky, but I have NEVER heard of someone ending up with corrupted data when they solely use that method and don't dupe in other ways.

I lost my save memory a few weeks ago, but I don't remember if I was actively duping when it happened…

Anyway. I don't really understand what some people have against duping. In my opinion, with PvP the way it is, I would rather dupe somebody items to get a +5 Weapon than outmatch them in equipment and have an easy win. What's the fun in that? Everybody gets theirstuff eventually, duping jsut shortens the process.
