My current level is 34 and this guy still whoops me to no end. What should I get so that we can be comparable in a melee attack.

I have lured him to the stairs … and have also ranged killed him, but this guy deserves me to kill him in a toe to toe matchup.
I'm a STR & DEX build but no stats above 24 yet.

My plan was to get a Great Axe and level up to +5 and then give him a shot

thoughts?

lol level up about 50 levels, cast warding and curse weapon. That or dodge him to hell and chop him up. I start every new game by killing him and old king doran to get their souls and the king's armor but ive been playng this game since before its release.

Yeah I want that armor too would save me an extra 10 in weight goign from fluted to the King's.
I think I'm trying to do to much in my first play through… watching my world tendency, making sure I don't miss any weapons, making sure I get all the geckos (probably shouldn't care that much since I'm going for Crushing), ahhh

Still Grinding on 4-1 skeletons… than I trap Black Skele in tower and soul arrow him.

I love my fluted armor so much tho lol hardly anyone wears it after they get new armor. very distinctive. you can poison cloud doran if you dont wanna backstab him to death and get it.

Get a shield. He uses a spear so even a crappy shield will do.

Your weapon doesn't matter.

Just keep the lock on, always running backwards to avoid his shield bash(will most likely break your guard) and when you block him, attack while he is off balance. Don't spam attacks so you won't get countered.

Do you use a shield? If not use a good one (ie. Steel, Purple Flame, Knight, Dark Silver). After he stabs you (have your guard up) and his spear bounces off your shield, just hit him once. Twice if you can.

Another thing you could do is circle around him when he does an attack with a long recovery (like his shield swing or lunge stab), and back stab him.

To stop his healing thing, just stay close with your guard up. If he starts the healing animation, power push him then attack.

Include your armor and weps you use so more people can help.

I always used a halberd to kill him, if you lure him to one of the trebuchets you can lead him around in circles taking swing at him over the wood after he thrusts the spear.

I just roll backwards from his thrusting attacks then pierce him with BBS or roll behind him and backstab him with fatal secret dagger +5.

Block, R2, Block, R2, Block, R2, Block, R2. Repeat until he is dead. Does he go a shield bash? Push, R2. Is he trying to munch grass? Push, R2.

This strategy is pretty much infallible as long as you let your stamina regenerate and have a 100% physical damage blocking shield. He's no problem with a SL 4 knight.
