Curious who's psyched for the new monster hunter. I thought DS would be the only game this generation to soak up 400+ hours of my time, but looks like there might be a little competition =D .

Summary:
Who's playing one of the few games this generation that may ALMOST rival DS for awesomeness.
The Monster Hunter series are possible the greatest multiplayer games of all time.
Freedom 1,2, Portable 2nd G and Unite have all been in my collection, although I don't own a Wii and Trii seems to be a bit of a failed attempt, IMO.

have to wait and see in a couple days, famitsu gave it a 40/40 though, and ign an 8.8 only marking down for its learning curve and lack of plot (plot, pfffft!). I think the wii is a huge mistake, they shoulda bit the bullet and put forth the budget to make it proper on the ps3, but oh well, I bought a wii specifically to play it just yesterday so it better be good lol.

Demon's souls is, if not the best, one of the very best games I have ever played! Having said that has anyone put a few hours into Monster Hunter tri yet? I'll buy it if I think it is even half as good as DS… It just released today, and for fifty bucks for a new release is a deal, if its any good? I have bought many of games for my poor underplayed wii. They all just seem to feel forgetable. But the new Monster Hunter has me curious to try and get back into nintendo.
If you've played Tri allready please tell me how you think it stacks up with DS.
None of us have monster hunter tri because its on the crappy Wii and i want it for my psp though
One of the things that drew me to Demon's Souls was the loose similarities it shared with Monster Hunter. Brutally hard, but infinitely rewarding; huge, epic, strategic boss fights; cool atmospheric environments. I do not, however plan to buy a Wii to play Tri. I'd play it on PSP. I miss tasty dino-steaks.
lol Ds boss fights aren't epic at all, its all about the PvP brah
Don't really find your opinion funny. The PVP is fun, but you can't say you're first run through of DS you didn't find any of the boss fights Epic. If you can you must have run through with 2 Blues helping you the whole time.
I finally got to spend some loving time with Monster Hunter Tri last night. I have to say it is pretty dang good, not nearly as good as Demon's Souls but there is only one upcoming game I expect to compete with it in terms of "being friggin awesome". To anyone who owns a Wii I say go out and give it a shot. If it makes any difference I have had a wii since launch other than playing last night I had not played since April 2008. MH3 ended my 2 year hiatus of wii gaming.
I love the monster hunter series. I was a huge supporter on all the playstation consoles… until they completely defecated on that whole community and gave the franchise to the wii… lol
