So I used a demons soul and upped my stats (im a faith build anyway but I was using second chance and evac.) to use this miracle. Unfortunately, it's garbage. Am I missing the point here? It seems like there's no AOE damage unless I target someone, and even then only they take damage. Second, it takes forever to cast and I get hit and interrupted. What am I doing wrong?
You aren't doing anything wrong. God's Wrath has a huge cast time nomatter what, and leave you very open to being interrupted or worse, backstabbed.
I don't see why you aren't noticing the AoE damage though, it should inflict the same damage at every point inside the spherical effect. For example, if you stand in the second gateway in 4-1 (the one with the two archers on it) you can hit them from ground level with God's Wrath, even through the structure.

Enemies or other players might be outside of the range of Wrath of God, making it miss. If that is the case, just need to learn the timing on it a little better to hit em with it.
Just don't expect it to be a one-shot hit. It doesn't have quite the power of Firestorm, but, it should knock them down giving you a chance for some extra hits with your weapon.
It's not firestrom but in pve it's not a bad miracle to use because it goes through walls and everything else. In pvp it is a little harder to use but it can be done effectively. If you backstab somebody then cast god's wrath it can work really well. :)

Cool, I guess it's just the cast time keeps getting me interrupted before I get to hit anyone. Maybe i'll use it for some stealth attacks but I really prefer second chance when it comes to using 2 miracle slots… I'll keep giving it a shot until i run out of shard of archstones lol
I like to use it in world 5-1 and the "town" part of 5-2 along with a few other spots here and there. Since there is a blast radius that goes in all directions and it goes through any barrier it is great for killing stuff without line of sight.
The Ring of Sincere Prayer really boosts its power and shortens casting time btw, though most people don't want to sacrifice the ring slot. I may be a bit off, but God's Wrath + Talisman of God did 78 damage to the Maiden in Black with 50 faith without the ring and 144 damage with the ring, of course this hasn't been thoroughly tested but it seems obvious that the power increase is substantial.
Naturally, if you don't like God's Wrath i wouldn't recommend trying to force it, it ring or no.

Increases the time it takes to cast a prayer it doesn't shorten it.

The miracle is useful for hitting multiple enemies when you don't know where they are (town of 5-2) or they aren't all on same elevation as you (multiple areas in 5-1 or the gecko cave in 2-2). Also great for clearing paths, either by knockdown of enemies (2-2 first tunnel to right with all the miners before you drop down to Scirvir) or knocking enemies off paths (cheap kill of BP Miralda: knock her into pit with this miracle). I keep it in my arsenal because of all of these uses, though I've never been good at hitting fast moving enemies with it due to the long cast time.
i love useing it with backstab, but the best place to use it is 4-1 in PVP , i always face BPs in one on one and 3v1( when im just helping ppl out) and when they start losing they use the shortcut and hide and wait for ppl to come down so they can get you off guard or cut someone off from the herd, or to just taunt you. its the worst, but GW goes thru walls so its hialrious to see them fly off the cliff
