could anyone give a few numbers as to why.
Moon outdamages crescent up to about 40mag, and can be used to upgrade a lot more of the big weapons like axes, poles and straight swords.
MP regen for pvp is pretty useless as well.
As well as the fact that you have an aura. For me, that's a turn-off. I'm one of those players who wear a graverobber's ring. xD

i see maybe i'll just make both then for pve and pvp.
I have both and I find myself only using the crescent when I have a long walk through a level that either has weak enemies or that I've already cleared out and I need to regen some mana. The aura doesn't bother me (I run around with second chance up a lot anyway), but the significantly lower damage, even with magic @ 36, does. Moon just has such a significantly higher base damage that crescent really can't catch up.
I would say however it is easier to get dark moon stone than moon stone.
I usually have a ton of dark moon stone by just farming the reaper in 4 - 2. He even drops chunks the darker your world tendency.
So i usually have my crescent weapons at a higher level in the beginning until i can farm the moon stones i need for later.
I usually have the +1 crescent falcion for a good start of my game.
Chunks and shards of darkmoonstone are easier to get, but i think Pure Darkmoonstone is the second rarest drop in the game (correct me if i'm wrong, i do know its rare), the rarest i believe being the elusive Pure Bladestone. Not to mention you can only get it from crystal geckos, and the geckos are much trickier to kill than the 3-X moonstone ones.
That said, i usually upgrade the Crescent Falchion +1 to +4 on any character, but for a main weapon on a magic build Moon simply does more damage until above 50+ magic and most people do not need to go that high anyway.

Yea as far as i know to get pure you have to farm the 2 lizards in 4-4. Its not a 100 percent drop rate.
Lol i find it easier to get the pure moonstone. I have even got it with a pure white tendency. I usually just take firestorm and run out the arch and firestorm. Kills the lizard and mind flayer.
Not sure why everyone hates on crescent weapons but I have one-shot backstabbed with my crescent kilij+5 against a high level pvper and it works just fine. Moon weapons do, in FACT, deal greater physical damage and some don't like the aura it gives off but the person that said the MP regen is useless is not correct. When you are using a battle mage and you do most of your fighitng up close in melee and your weapon is regenerating your mp so you dont have to waste spices by the time you want to use magic, sorry but that is not in any way a useless thing…think of it this way..its one less thing you have to pause for (i.e. popping an old spice) thus setting you up for less possible backstabs. Similar to how an adjucators shield +5 negates a cursed weapons hp drain..if you need a crescent +5 weapon or a moon+5 weapon that means you are more than likely a battle mage and not just straight mage which means you will be spending quite a bit of time fighitng melee range and that is all time that can be spend regenerating your MP (especially if you stack it with fragrant). I don't know..I just don't see the big difference after all its really only a difference of 10 or so attack points.
If you are a battle mage either one of the choices is good. It's true that the crescent +5 is much harder to get than a moon +5 weapon but I think in the long run its worth it. MP regen may not be as fast as it is to pop a spice but it could also make the difference between popping two old spices and popping one to recast a spell several times. Maybe I just look at the small picture within the big picture but I have a battlemage and would not trade in my crescent +5 kilij for any other weapon and it has suited me just fine
So basically, from all I read, PVE wise crescent is good because of the MP regen but lose out in damage compared to moon weapons? Am I wrong? But I thought the bonus for crescent weapons should be higher since it scales better with higher magic compared to moon weapons?
Dont forget that stat scaling is only useful with good base damage. Crescent weapons have better stat scalings for magic but lower base damage than Moon, so moon is the way to go under level 60 magic, after that the higher A rating kicks in.
MP regen is not that useful, even in PvE its usually better to just pop a spice and keep movin.

I know its not one of the weapons mentioned but
The Phosphorescent Pole +5 with the fragrant ring are awesome.
I can cast warding and if i dont cast another spell i can cast warding again. I regen that much magic.
The pole also stacks quite nicely with magic so you can do a good amount of damage with it.
And for those of you who are inclined it has the same exact move set as those pole weapons that seem so popular in pvp.
So its very easy to be a spell warrior quite well.
My character has enough magic for firestorm and other spells. I usually have firestorm, acid cloud and soul ray. That way uchis break, non shield users have to respect my magic and firestorm can always come in handy.
Not to mention i have the ancient kings armor and 40 stamina so i can dodge effectively and have a good defense.
