What happened?

Did you go to the right place? He moves to the Nexus after you finish 4-2 provided you didn't kill him.

He was at the nexus before, because I had already saved him but hadn't finished 4-2
So I finished 4-2, and I go to where he's supposed to be and all I find is his armor and his ring

Did you save Yurt but didn't kill him? He probably killed off Urbain. Patches, Freke and Yuria are next!!!!!!! Kill him NAOH!!!!!! But seriously, if you saved Yurt but don't kill him after taking out two or three bosses he'll start killing off all your important people.

Yeah, if you find his drops that means he's dead. Yurt is most likely to blame.
