Have done everything I am supposed to do, but it's still not working..

This is driving me bonkers.

I am now on my 5th or 6th play-through with a from-scratch character, trying different builds, learning, just basically getting a grasp of how Demon's Souls works, how tendency works, etc. On my latest character, I have been an absolute stickler for following the specific rules on how to get the world tendency to pure white, and more specifically in Latria and Stonefang, because I want to free Rydell and want to collect the Bonesmasher.

I have immediately turned myself into a ghost in the Nexus to avoid dying in any world, and I have been successful. I have not died in body form in any world on this character. I have not killed, or even accidentally attacked any NPC. I have advanced all the way through the demons on each world, killing the archdemon in each without dying in body form, and have returned to the nexus to make sure that all of the kills 'count'. (In fact I killed each demon without any phantom help either, it was all me.)

And then when I go back to the tower in Latria to get Rydell's key, *NO BRIDGE*. When I go to the Dragon stone to get the Bonesmasher, *rubble still blocks it*.

I just don't get it. And now, having killed each archdemon, I can't quite figure out what else I am supposed to do? By my understanding of how this is all supposed to work, I should be at pure white in these worlds.

Am I just dumb, and am missing something obvious?

I have not deliberately shifted either of these worlds to pure black yet, so I know I still have some primeval demons to kill, and also some black phantoms will appear, but I doubt those will be enough to shift me all the way from pure black to pure white.

Can anyone offer some words of wisdom? I am getting seriously frustrated by this situation.. grrrr.

this sounds strange, if u play through the worlds in soul form & kill the bosses it should switch to white. even if u die a 100 times in soul form. 1 tip is dont quit ur game in the nexus, that makes worlds lean towards neutral.

You have to return to the nexus to have you tendency shift as it will not change on the fly. Another thing is playing online, whether your with a phantom or not will shift your tendency to the server average. If you are concerned about getting PWWT then I suggest doing it all OFFLINE ^_^

For the sake of argument from this wiki, pure white occurs at +3, where each demon is +1. So if you started at neutral (0), then you have a case. But your world tendancy will carry with you from NG to NG, so when you started your 5th or 6th playthrough, if you were less than neutral you'd have to beat more than 3 bosses which unfortunately cannot be done in one playthrough.

That's my only guess, that you were at least part black WT when you started, therefore need more than 3 bosses to get to PW. My recomendation would be this:

1. Get the world to pure black
2. Kill the primevil demon/named BP
3. Without returning to the nexus, kill the named BP/primeval demon (whichever you didn't kill in step 2)
4. Start a NG+++++++….whatever
5. Defeat the 1st boss demon

That should be enough to get you to pure white.

EDIT: And do it without dying in body form.

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant 5th or 6th 'from scratch' play through, meaning I have never gone to the Old One yet. Every character I have is still on the first play-through.

And this is why I am pulling my hair out.

However, I probably have exited the game while in the Nexus, so I guess that must be what is causing it.

So, if that is the case, and the arch-demons are already dead, is there any hope at all of getting to pure white now? Or am I just SOL?

Are you playing online? If you are, then logging out and logging back in will shift you tendancy to the server average.

Yea, out of everything that was said, nothing at all was said about being online or not.

If you did everything you said and still aren't at PWWT I am guessing that you are playing Online.

If you want to get PWWT you MUST either play Offline or do everything in one sitting.

If all bosses are dead in a given world, and that world isn't already Pure White, then there's no way to reach Pure White in the current game. You're in S.O.L. territory. :(

If just one boss were still alive, then you'd have the option of playing online as a Host and killing invading Black Phantoms in that world, in order to Whiten it up.

As nelard stated above, you could kill the Primeval Demon and named Black Phantom NPC, but you'd have to turn the world Pure Black first, which means it wouldn't reach Pure White world tendency until the next playthrough.

If you're playing online, you can never reload or restart your game (or get booted off the server at random), if you want to reach Pure White/Black world tendency. Once you quit the game, starting again will always reset your tendency upon returning to the Nexus for the first time. Pure Black is easy, but you're much better off doing Pure White world tendency in the offline mode.
