In Game Description
A gigantic shield used by one of the Boletarian
heroes, the Tower Knight. It is said to repel all
kinds of malice, but it is tremendously heavy
and difficult to handle.
It is considered the largest of the known types
There are two ways to obtain this shield per play through:
- It's found at the very end of 1-2, after obtaining the Iron ring of keys from the Fat Official in 1-3. The key unlocks the door to the dungeon underneath the guard tower, just before the Tower Knight area.
- drop from the Scraping Spear Black Phantom who's using the same shield at the beginning of 1-4.
In terms of raw mitigation, this shield has it all: 100 Physical Damage Reduction %, 60 Magic Damage Reduction %, and 90 Fire Damage Reduction %, alongside a monstrous 85 Guard Break Reduction when fully upgraded. In terms of practicality, however, this shield isn't quite there: Weighing in at a whopping 30 units, it is the second1 heaviest piece of equipment in the entire game. Many players, especially on their first playthrough, will require the Ring of Great Strength to even consider using this shield. However, its defensive prowess is undeniable and higher-level characters with greater Endurance scores will enjoy the protection of this shield.
|Name:||Names displayed are according to the Atlus (NA) version of the game. Name changes from the Asian version, if any, will appear in parentheses.|
The Damage stat dictates how much damage the shield does when used for bashing.
All shields have Blunt physical damage, apart from the Spiked shield's Slashing damage, but it is also more of a weapon than a shield.
|Damage Reduction %:||
The Damage Reduction % of the shield. It dictates how much damage the shield mitigates while blocking.
|Guard Break Reduction:||The Guard Break Reduction determines the amount of stamina expended to block an incoming attack. A higher Guard Break Reduction also allows you to block stronger attacks without breaking guard and reduces the amount of stamina depleted from blocking attacks.|
|Durability:||The Durability of the shield. The effectiveness of the shield will severely deteriorate when the durability falls below 30%.|
|Weight:||The Weight of the shield. Note that carrying over 50% of your Equip Weight will reduce the speed of your rolls, while going over 100% will reduce your regular speed to walking and attempts to roll or backstep will leave you momentarily stunned.|
The Requirements determines how high various Stats must be in order to wield the shield effectively.
While it is possible to use a shield with lower-than-required Strength, your character will suffer a severe penalty to Guard Break Reduction, thus making it easier to break your character's guard.
